E-gear problem
Discussion
Hello all,
I have an 06 plate Gallardo E-gear. The car has been faultless but now I've taken a deposit on it, it decides to play up :-(
When I get in to start it the E-gear pump goes on for far longer than it should, the car also won't start. On the dash the gears are shown and gear 1 is red and the rest are flashing.
Any ides what I'm looking at? I'm in Loughborough, anyone know of a nearby specialist? Although how I'll get it there if it doesn;t start I don't know.
Thanks.

I'm not a mechanic but sounds like it could be low gearbox oil.
Good luck

Never had any dealing with them but heard good things about them.
They haven't collected the car yet as they have had to order the pipe from Italy. The pipe was very expensive, even by Lamborghini standards I think. Once it lands they said they will fill the car with transmission fluid and drive it in as they are very close. Then they will bleed the system, replace the pipe, re-fill it and test it and hopefully deliver it back the same day.
Well the car is fixed. They collected the car and said it would be back the same day. I didn't hear from them for a couple of days so I knew they had obviously found something else.
To enable you to take the lid off the transmission fluid reservoir you have to undo a bolt and slide the reservoir out from under the rear wing, it is designed to do this. As my car is now 16 years old, the rubber pipe underneath had become brittle and when I moved it I had cracked it. No problem, just order a new one you would think. Except this 6 inch rubber pipe with absolutely nothing special about it whatsoever is £1080 from the main dealer.
Geoff at Shiltech refused to let me pay this extortionate amount and basically fashioned me a replacement pipe which does exactly the same job and he guarantees will last the life of the car.
They delivered the car back and the car drives like a dream. I now realise that I must have had a slow leak for a while as the pump used to come on every so often, now I don't really hear it at all so it is maintaining the pressure much better than before.
I cannot thank Geoff and the team at Shiltech enough and highly recommend them for any work on your car. They specialise in Ferrari but upon talking to them they also know Lamborghini's inside out and can definitely get the job done.
