screeching sound from the front while braking to a stop....
Discussion
Hello
Today, it's around 27 degrees in London... I took out my Lambo for a spin and i can hear screeching sound from the front of the car only when i hit the brakes.
I tried coming to a stop without using the brake pedal and i don't think I heard anything... i am guessing it's the brake pads? I haven't even taken the car out since the last service in jJn 2020 (last service by Lamborghini). so if the brake pads were worn, they would have advised...
Ive checked behind the wheels and nothing loose, etc.... nothing falling etc...
Happened to anyone? any clues of what this can be?
Thanks

Is it a high pitched squeal or a grinding sound? Brake squeal could be due to a stuck caliper piston resulting in uneven pressure applied to the pad when braking which in turn can cause harmonic squeal. Quite possible if it hasn't been used since January and a few taps to the calliper with a wooden block and cloth between it and the caliper could sort it. If it's a grinding sound the yes, either pads are down to the wear indicator or something (pebble) may have been trapped in there. Try reversing and applying the brake gently.
EDIT: Just saw steels - could be rust buildup - needs an Italian tuneup. Although confirm not the above before trying that

no squeal... slight grind sound....
well now that you have mentioned pebble ... i drove to a near town and they were resurfacing the roads with tarmac etc.... whilst driving down that road, i could hear a lot of stones hitting up against the bottom of my car while i was driving.....
see pics of my brake pads...

Pads look fine - plenty life in them and the caliper gap is normal. One of the pictures shows a brown discolouration on the pad - looks like a bit of rust. That can form an oxidation surface between pad and rotor that can cause squeal - maybe find an empty road and do a few 60-20 hard braking iterations.
Any debris caught in there will most likely be in the inside pad as they bounce around the wheel well before being thrown in there.

i dont think its rust... my garage is dusty lol.... the disc had dust on them.... i should have washed my car... i didnt realize until i parked up at my destination.EDIT: Just saw steels - could be rust buildup - needs an Italian tuneup. Although confirm not the above before trying that
I have a Huracan and experienced it a bit (ceramics), but the cure was hard braking. Lambo service said you have to use the brakes pretty hard, so that's what I did and it cured it. I have, however, had stones stuck like you appear to on my Maserati in the past - once I gave it a tap here and there and looked on the ground to find exactly the same bits of tarmac, the problem disappeared. I think when they do surface dressing on roads it doesn't exactly help matters at all, regardless of car.
