I am thinking very hard to part exchange
a porsche 911.2 gt3rs that i own for one full year for a performante spyder , any opinion how does the performante feels , the way it handle and drive?, i will be doing of alot mountain drives again this summer , would maybe love to bring a lamborghini to do all that. I also live in central london and found gt3rs tough to daily as its pain of getting in and out. Any advice on a perf would appreciate . I am thinking the price for a spyder would be around £190-200k should i wait alittle more ?.

The best handling Lamborghini on the market right now is the Performante. It's an incredible car, the dual clutch is smooth, it's very easy to drive when you just want to cruise in the city but acts like a proper track car when you want to have some fun.

If you opt for comfort seats make sure you check your head height with roof on and off.

My head was against the roof with roof up and felt very exposed due to the windscreen angle when roof down.

Buckets lower the seating position but very firm for some.

I have a Perf Spyder, previous to this I had a Perf coupe, the difference between the two performance wise is negligible. In my opinion it’s the best looking Spyder on the market. Went out out today, roof down 6 degrees and the sun out, the noise was glorious.
Taken it on track a couple of times, great fun four wheel drifts out the corners. Quicker than my 991rs without doubt and looks to match.
Residuals, not a clue. I think everything will lose money in the current climate but the Perf Spyder not as quick as some.

Your thoughts on coupe vs spyder, anything you preferred with the coupe?

I had the sports seats in my coupe and have comfort in the Spyder. I enjoyed both but the sports seats were a little harsh and the Mrs hated them.
Not sure there was anything I preferred but I’ve always had coupe supercars before so this was a big change for me.
I do feel though the Spyder is the best of all worlds, 99% of the handling and performance but with added noise!

Cheers, I’d always planned to get the coupe but now I'm leaning towards the spyder with the thoughts I’m unlikely to notice the weight penalty but will definitely notice the noise

I've had one for a year now, love it.. best car I've owned and driven to be fair. I own a Scud which I do very little miles in Central Ldn as it can be a bit too much but the Lambo with the lift on is a breeze, not difficult at all. That said, due to some insurance issues and not being able to park mine on the road it's not getting used as much so I'm going to be selling it on.

The best looking Spyder you can currently buy.

And that's coming from an R8 gen 1 Spyder owner.

There is a new 'harrys garage' youtube video about the spyder (albeit the Evo rather than the Performante). I'd say his verdict was that its fabulous but flawed.

Cabin too small and with over-fussy controls, yet a staggering drivetrain.

I notice Harry (he of Evo fame) has just downloaded a video on the evo spyder Huracan. Likes the car very much apart from a couple of points. Firstly at six ft 2 he doesn't fit in. which you cant argue with. With the comfort seats you do lose leg room in a car that is already small. Moans about headlight control. I don't understand this one, he claims there is no auto headlight control, which there is! So the only control you actually use is the flash on the steering wheel and hold it in for full beam. also the indicators being on the steering wheel, this was annoying at first but I don't even notice it now, was similar when I had it on my 458.
He does love however the engine and gearbox combo and the general driving experience.
Can't copy the link at the moment for reasons I don't understand.

I remember reading a post over on the Lambo forum about someone removing or modding a bracket on the seat rail to get extra legroom.

If I remember correctly it was with the sports seat and to do with lifting the front edge of the seat up which tilted the seat back. Easy to do as the required holes are already drilled but I've no idea how much difference it makes.

You could also reduce the auto backrest straightening that happens when the seat nears the rear firewall IIRC.

It does raise the obvious question though, why on earth didn't Lamborghini make their spyder big enough for normal humans. Why make this particular car so much shorter in the cabin than everything else they make, and everything else on the market?

Rollover protection that deploys from behind the seats and additional strengthening?

Rollover protection of what though, there is no risk if only little people fit in, their heads don't reach the top of the seat never mind stick out in any danger..... laugh

It just seams ridiculous that everybody else can make a spyder / spider version of their coupe's which have roughly the same size cabin, yet Lamborghini sent this one out so massively compromised. Ferrari can do it, McLaren can do it, and even Audi can do it with the R8, yes you may sacrifice some storage space behind the seats but you shouldn't be sacrificing seat space to the point where a significant portion of potential customers can't get comfortable.

Bigger hairdo on the average Lambo driver.

They can't risk the rollover deployment messing it up and the ensuing lawsuit biglaugh
