Another of those threads i'm afraid.
Really happy with the Lambo but was browsing round a dealer looking at a Vanquish when he mentioned a 599 in Grigio Silverstone had just come in and was being prepped for sale.
Been looking at these on and off for a couple of years but this has got me seriously thinking of doing the change.

Anyway here goes my 2014 car full history sub 10k miles for a 2008 599 GTB 12k on the clock. At the moment we are talking £10-20k from me to change.

Whats the concensus bearing in mind i love the Gallardo but the V12 itch plus a Ferrari which ive not owned before is tempting.

Safer place to park the dosh given the impending doom we keep hearing about!?

Dont do it! You're going from a limited edition rear wheel drive Lambo to a "common" Ferrari. From both driving thrills and financial perspectives it doesnt make sense.

I know someone who went from one to a performante then back....

The 599 is a different car .... Bigger, heavier, more a GT.....

First time I have heard of a 599 being described as common laugh

Probably agree with your last sentence though - speaking from a position of authority having never even sat in either car, let alone driven or owned one biggrin

Never you mind

Morning Craig.

Thought about doing the same as I fancy getting a ferrari at some point but there was just something about the lambo that made me want to keep it a bit longer. The Gallardo is an iconic car though and in RWD mode is something really special, maybe in a few years time the LP560-2 will get the recognition it deserves but at the moment people want GT3, GT3 RS or special edition Ferraris. If you do trade it in don't expect to get any decent bids on it. Last bid I got on mine (was chopping in for a 458) was only 95K but mine has done way more miles than yours.

Which 599 have you seen?

Hi Steve
599 is not on the market as yet just being prepped. Its at Bell Classic motors just off M1 nr M25.
Trade bid wasnt great and not as much as yours but theyve since been back in touch with a deal from a customer of theirs that may/maynot come off.
I think half of me saw the LP560-2 at Maundrells for 105k and thought whether i should get out or not but looking arounfd theres standard 4 wheel drive Gallardo's which are older with more miles on listed much higher.

I'm really happy with the car but just fancied the V12 which was the original plan to chop my 993 in for a 2002 Vanquish but it just looked tatty in comparison.

I think i'll hold fast for a while as its still and event out in the Lambo and summers not far away!

I cannot believe that car is down to 105k and hasn't been snapped up.... The best gallardo variant by far, and only 10uk white cars..... A genuine bargain for someone, really, and I'm not just saying it as I have one or to talk up prices, mines a keeper

This car will tell you where the market is, I agree it looks a top car and for me I'd pay the extra for that interior over a normal lp but it's 15-20k short of a Huracan which is not much? It's 20k more than a v10plus or mclaren which you could stick a few miles on. This car will only interest a collector or someone in it for the long term. Could you drive it or is it to rare to stick miles On?

You make a valid point. The Huracan 2 wheel drive 580-2 is the cheapest entry point so why go for a 2 wheel drive gallardo for slightly less money??
The answer could be rarity as has been mentioned before. Theres approx 10 in the country and only 100 made world wide.

I guess its too late a model to appreciate but in 10 years time, who knows.

Think in about 10 years time these will become more appreciated.

I actually prefer the look of the Gallardo over the Hurracan.

I've stuck 19K on mine. It's just a great car for hammering around in.

lambo's dont quite have the collectable status of LE ferrari's and GT cars, or the volume of collectors

would i have a 580-2 over this, no way.... the anniversario is a peach of a drivers car... as ive said before, best power to weight of any gallardo, the interior, and the 2wd has much better steering feel.... its just analogue enough to reward you, the driver

i'd have one of these over a balboni, there were tweeks to the handling and suspension to make it better, shame all the uk cars were e gear

as i said, i know one owner who went to a huracan and then a performante back to his original car, for driving feel

It seems on the Lamborghini-talk forum that fair few in the US have converted theirs to rear wheel drive. Anyone here done that or would that devalue the cars?

I got surprisingly high valuation for my car from BHP. I was thinking about moving to a 458 but I might be in the minority that prefers the look of the Gallardo. Has the prices of Gallardo bottomed out?

This Balboni car looks nice. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lamborghini-Gallardo-V1...

Just noticed that the Maundrells car doesn't have the carbon fibre buckets. Car defo needs the buckets just for the added specialness. IMHO of course.

Wonder how many where spec'd with buckets? The majority I have seen on the market have the comfort seats.

Apologies to go off topic, but I note that you were going to trade in your 993 for a 2002 Vanquish - is that the 22K mile one at Bell Classics? If so, what was tatty, as looks nice in pics and is low mileage??

Many thanks,

Mark
