Huracan - How Is It Still NA?
Discussion
Hi,
With all of the main manufactures opting for turbo charged engines for their main line cars, such as:
- 488
- 911
- 720
... etc
01 - How come the latest Huracan (Evo) is still NA, and not turbo charged?
02 - Will the Evo be the last NA in the Lamborghini’s main line range (Huracan)?
Thanks in advance for your help.

01. Because the replacement for Huracan is not due until later. They feel, there is plenty of life in the platform yet. I am pleased that the NA V10 continues for the time being in unadulterated form. With all of the main manufactures opting for turbo charged engines for their main line cars, such as:

02. Probably. From what I know the replacement for Huracan ( and Aventador) is likely to be NA V10 and V12 respectively with hybrid accoutrements rather than Turbos, but I may be wrong, it has been known.
Part of it is likely due to engine displacement tax. China has 20% tax <4l and 40% tax >4l. So turbos allow equal or greater power at a lower tax hit. It’s noticeable on pretty much all the German brands that their latest engines all sit under 4l, bar top of the range BMWs(I find it interesting their v8 is still a 4.4) and the r8.
Similar thing is noticeable in HK where for a while electric cars had none/low meaning a Tesla S was 50% cheaper than a petrol E class/ 5 series.Teslas where everywhere.
A number of other countries tax based on engine size and others on emissions, both lower with turbos.
Think we are definitely seeing the last days of the big NA engines so make the most of it while you can!

And this...
The company will use the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV and its hybrid variant to help offset the emission requirements of its V10 and V12 powered supercars, in a similar vain to Porsche using its SUVs to offset its higher end naturally-aspirated GT models.

Thanks SuperLeg.
Yes, it’s great to see. Maybe I should ask the question the other way around then :-)
Why are all of the other manufactures going turbo. I know it is for emissions but why don’t Lamborghini have to do that?
isn't it among other things that a company such as Porsche has to adhere to stricter emissions laws due to producing more than 10k vehicles a year - small manufacturer excemption?Yes, it’s great to see. Maybe I should ask the question the other way around then :-)

I guess McLaren went turbo due to cost/ease to achieve similar power levels with an n/a engine and Ferrari followed suit for the V8 models to not be left behind performance wise. Ferrari obviously still produces the V12 and I think that one will also go hybrid as opposed to turbo in the next iteration
Thanks all.
So if the manufactures go Hybrid with their V12 range, we'll still get the sound of the NA when in petrol mode? :-)
I ordered my first Turbo Porsche (or any car) last year, but held onto the previous NA car from the previous year too, and while the newer car is more powerful and looks better... I find myself jumping in the older model more purely because of the sounds of the NA engine.

....this! I went to Goodwood last year, and the McLarens, Porsches and Ferrari’s heading up the hill sounded like hairdryers compared to the noise coming out of the standard Huracan and Aventador. A Lamborghini might not be as powerful, as quick or as well engineered but it sounds fantastic and (for me) is therefore more exciting to drive. So if the manufactures go Hybrid with their V12 range, we'll still get the sound of the NA when in petrol mode? :-)
