After getting my annual service at a Lambo garage earlier in the year, they warned me that next year was a 'big one', the six-year service. They told me it would start from £5k, depending on what needs to be done.

I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this? Are six-year Gallardo services usually around this price?

Also, and I know this is a contentious point but if I get it done from a cheaper non main dealer (but lambo specialised), does it really impact the sale price that much?

£5k+ scares the life out of me smile

That seems very expensive. I had a 6 year service on my LP570 SL2 last year and it came to a little over 2k I think. Was reduced a little as the O2 sensors did not need replacing (+800).

I had it done by a main dealer too.

I hate hearing stories like this. You're being hooked into paying a big chunk of Lambo tax - change your Service agent. My 2011 LP550-2 had it's 6th service done last year. No talk of the Big One - just alternating major and minor. Major is around £3.5k at a Lambo dealer.

FWIW, I've decided to go for reputable independent servicing now. These cars are no longer the current model, for which the technicians are being trained up for. Therefore more value to be had with an indy who knows them better and charges approx half the price.

Thanks guys - this is my first car at this price point (bought it in Feb) and I didn't want to save myself a couple of grand on servicing costs if it's going to impact the price by more than that when I come to replace it in a couple of years. It'll probably be the last service before I look at something else so didn't want to shoot myself in the foot!

5k service for a gallardo???!! Com'on now it's not a Murcie or an Aventador! I would never ever call that agent againsmile
5k for a service! That must be a record!

I am eyeing these guys up for my next upcoming service:
https://www.thesupercarrooms.co.uk/lamborghini-ser...

£550 + VAT for a minor
£975 + VAT for a major

Anyone used them and any feedback?

Already a very interesting discussion, thanks for the replies chaps.

Does anyone worry about whether not getting it serviced through a main-dealer has an impact on re-selling these things as I know it can take an age to shift as it is? As a buyer, you'd prefer dealer stamps, wouldn't you?

Yes they did a major on mine. Annoyed because they didnt spot an oil-leak from a corroded oil-pipe, so it puts into question the rest of their work.

Never you mind

Mine always goes to the main dealer for service and MOT as I believe that it looks a bit more attractive to a potential buyer if it has main dealer stamps.

The dealers quoted £4.5k service for my LP560-4 manual as it was reaching 10 years, even though the last one was a major service. The car has an annual rotating major and minor service so far.

Has anyone used BHP (Buckinghamshire High Performance)?

It's important to separate out the Service items - which should be defined and computable, e.g. spark plugs, belts, filters, etc - and wear and tear items - which are subject to inspection and may not need replacing, e.g. brakes, tyres, suspension bushes, engine mounts etc.

To say that a 10-year old car WILL need something, is inaccurate... I would ask them for a breakdown in costs and also to see the failed part before it comes off the car.

I also subscribe to the this. The main dealer I take it to is also very very capable at understanding non current models like Gallardo, Murci and Diablo etc. To say that somehow main dealers suddenly lose all their expertise and competence at working on non current cars is disingenuous and palpably absurd.

The master technician at my main dealer is a guru of yoda like proportions in all matters relating to Lamborghini and is widely highly regarded.

The true argument is based on cost. That said, I don’t find the prices I am charged at all unreasonable especially given the benefit of maintaining absolute provenance in the unlikely event I ever decide to move it on. If I have my current car for 20 years, I would not be surprised.

So, the question probably is:

Do you lose the money you saved when getting the service performed by a non-main dealer when selling it on? What do you think?

Who knows? I guess it depends on the potential buyer(s) and what is important to them. I just have a bit of an OCD issue with mine about making sure all the stamps are consistent...not just Main Dealer, but the same Main Dealer! Weird, but there you have it.

I do believe you do. Any dealer will ask, if you are trying to get bids on it, if the service is full lambo. If it isn't I imagine the bids you get will be slightly lower. Put it this way, if you where going to buy a lambo and noticed all the servicing had been done by "Barry's motor servicing ltd" would you part with your cash?
