Gallardo 6 speed Manual pre LP or e-gear LP 560 Spyder ?
Discussion
really depends on useage and wants.....
if its a sunday toy then keep your current car..... as a daily the lp is much more refined than the pre-lp
I went from pre-lp to lp as I wanted 2wd, preferred the styling and was egear to egear anyway...
the pre-lp cars sound different and better imho, the direct injection of the lp changes things most lower down the rev range, so cruising around in a spyder will be better in your current car
I think the egear is fine, and gives engagement, dblue loved the manual on his car, but hated the egear...

the clutch evolved in the life of the Gallardo many times..... later in the pre lp a sintered clutch was introduced, but this was more about reliability and wear
the lp car had a completely different design for the clutch... to make it more 'everyday' supercar
when refined, I mean in town, slow moving traffic.... my pre-lp hated crawling along, like a caged lion just wanting to get roaming..... run wild.... the lp, as a result of the clutch, is much happier around town....
part of that will be engine mapping and software upgrades to the gearbox, but the clutch plays a major part imho
even on my 08 pre-lp I was happy with e gear, it can be mastered to give smooth changes.... and the blip on the downchange is soo addictive....

I went from a 2008 eGear to a 2013 LP eGear. 70proof is correct, easier/smoother to drive slowly but not a lot in it when you're gunning. on a b road blast, I wouldn't say there is much in it really, main diff is in town imho

Thank you for replies , it is agreed that LP e-gear is a big improvement on pre LP but my question is going from manual pre LP I see the LP e-gear would be OK , still a negative over manual but what are the positives to justify the £30k to go from 2007 to 2010 ?
I've been struggling with the same man maths as yourself for 18 months now. I too have a pre-LP manual but want the newer car. Is it worth the extra £30k? I'm not sure, probably. I really need to drive an E-gear LP to make my mind up.The positives of the LP for me personally are, the front and rear is prettier, the suspension arms are a lot cheaper to replace and the engine can run a Supercharger without internal mods.

Interesting reply thank you . Your personal positives I gree with front & rear , not had to replaced suspension arm & don't intend to supercharge . No positives related to actual driving ?The positives of the LP for me personally are, the front and rear is prettier, the suspension arms are a lot cheaper to replace and the engine can run a Supercharger without internal mods.
From a driving experience there are no reasons to change....
If you love the manual, stick with it.... its a sweet clunk click....
Gunning it there's little difference....
I sold my pre LP not looking to change, but always thought I liked the facelift looks and a rear spoiler.... so when I decided to buy, LP it was.... I almost doubled my spend to get what I thought was perfect for me, the anniversary edition...

Not quite on topic, but I went from an 06 manual to an 07 egear (had a vantage inbetween)... imho the e-gear is better drive overall, although it can be a little temperamental around town, on the open road its fantastic, and the blip on the downshift puts a smile on my face every time....
