I have just had an oil service done at the dealers and on checking the oil level it is just inside the fill zone on the dipstick. This is much lower than I have ever seen it following a service before, normally the level is well inside the do not fill zone. The dealer says this is the correct level for it to be at even though the level is normally in the do not fill zone in the 6 years I have owned the car.

What do you reckon is this OK?

This may be of use to you .

I ran a 2007 Gallardo ( now sadly sold ) which was serviced by a main dealer in the Midlands.

I found that if the engine oil level was between the middle and top marks on the dipstick indicating that no oil top up was required ,the engine used to emit a large puff of blue smoke on start up.

If I kept the oil level so that it was just on the middle mark on the dipstick it didn't.

The technician who used to service the car explained that somehow oil gets sucked up a breather pipe into the plenum chambers if there is slightly too much oil in the oil tank.

So important not to overfill, but must use correct chreck procedure as dry sump.... Oil pressure in car reads 4 at idle and should rise under load.

Yes, I used the correct procedure to take the reading. It just seems strange that after 6 services only once has it come back this low so I was a little surprised. I have never had blue smoke on start up. Not a big deal as such as I will keep an eye on it and top up a little if it falls further down the fill area.
