Hi All,

Last year a bought a 57 spyder and loved it - sold it 3 months later and regretted it!

So im in the market for a new one !

Out there at the moment seem to be 2 560-4 bicolore...... there at the top of my budget but are they desirable for resale do you think?
Or theres a 50th anniversary on a 2014 but only 2 wheel drive? Its seems that the 2 wheel drive are sitting around for sale and not selling?

What are your thoughts guys? Im after a later shape 2011 onwards really and I'm open to a spyder or a coupe??

Thanks as always and 70proof you were a great help last time i bought one smile)

Thanks ,Nic

I would recommend coupe for performance ( i.e. 140 kg less weight ) and residual value ( i.e. 80 % cars available are Spyder 20% are Coupe)

Bi-colore is worth a small premium since it comes with glass engine cover, leightweight wheels, camera , lifting gear etc. Furthermore while there is only 250 in the world. A reasonable estimate is that there are only say 50 that are Right Hand Drive in the UK of which maybe 45 are in existence on the road. The cache of saying you have a Limited Edition Lamborghini is in itself intrinsic value. If only they had 1 of 250 etc on the car - now that would be something the talk about lol !

The 2wd cars are deemed less desirable.... Odd as balboni liked them and they have the best steering feel.... A lot of gt3 R's owners have gone the 2wd route with no regrets.... I went 4wd to 2wd... They are more playful at sensible speeds, but still carry huge grip levels....

Personally, the same alcantara interior of the SL/performannte makes the anniversary the one to get for me.... And if its got the bucket seats, its the best power:weight gallardo ever made....

YouTube any 2wd test and the journos are full of praise... Aren't the 458 and macs rwd... On yes, the gallardo is more analogue...

LP 550-2 in standard format is the rareist of them all despite the various limited edition models, on the register here I think we just got into double figures, most came fully speced up with glass engine cover, alloys and lifting gear.
Mine is currently in the classifieds as I wanted to try a 12c.
Low miles, best colour, egear, do I need to say anymore ?

Can't talk for every variant but very happy with my LP 550-2 so far. My experience of ownership in its first year is that its got all the attributes each and every Gallardo has, presence, feel good factor, awesome V10 etc but has better steering and is slightly more playful if you are up for that.

Any 2wd Gallardo is by definition rarer than a 4wd but I'm not entirely surprised that in general buyers opt for 4wd and E Gear more often. In truth they aren't bought for the last word in handling delicacy and poise. the ease of a paddle shift and security of AWD probably make sense to the likely Lambo audience.

Right now they seem very good value compared to anything that is remotely similar I would say.

Have to agree when looking at a 430 for circa 80-90k now ? A 2011 550-2 ( or the common 4wd) does look like a bit of a bargain ...

Nostalgic cut and paste....

Anyway, 2 months ago I sold my pre facelift gallardo after two and a half years, having initially aimed to flip after one summer. A great experience that was, and there seemed to be a hole in my life, actually, our lives, as the family missed her too, once she was gone.

However, time to move on as they say, so off I went to look at something else. Had a brief spin in a 2014 GTR... Untouchable as a daily driver IMHO, and launch control was like a rollercoaster ride. But, I didn't want a daily driver, I wanted a toy, something that hit all the right spots.

Did try to get into an early huracan, but with no luck there unsurprisingly.

Sorry, but brand Ferrari does nowt for me, the cars are lovely, but the brand... And I've never been a porker fan, I know they are good, when they are not trying to barbeque you, but whatever I bought had to arouse with looks alone...the v12s was very very nice, but too much new... The list is then endless with diversity from a 1m coupe and sagaris to a SLS....

But I couldn't stop checking the gallardo classifieds.... Its a good looking car, that has aged well.... That v10, even on a standard exhaust, what an engine... Torque, power, free spinning, the noise... V8 barble like below 4k then pure f1 (ex), it always put a massive smile on my face whether being washed or driven, and it was not even my dream car.... So another gallardo it had to be then...

Now, modern cars are just too fast....too easy to drive, Kim kardi ran a 458 as a dd ffs.. That's another reason to ignore the gtr/458/12c/991 gt3.... I wanted fun at slower speeds, more involvement, to feel scared/excited/in control rather than purely concentrating on lines and brake points at crazy speeds.... So I decided to look for a 2wd gallardo... Balboni or 550-2..... Didn't mind egear tbh, its not that bad IMO and gives the wife a chance to drive in auto mode... And had to be bright... White gets too dirty too quickly, and is so common at the moment, black hides the lines... Or a superleggera as the interior is to die for and the rear spoiler...

So, y'day I bagged a 2wd gallardo in lime green with a rear spoiler and alcantara interior.... Perfect spec tbh.... A lp560-2 50th anniversary, brand new, unregistered.... Thanks lambo London.... The only lime green one worldwide...
