So, £80k, enough?
Discussion
I may, depending on a property sale, decide to blow about £80k on a motor. Heart says it has to be a Gallardo... Its still a few months off so right now its the fun bit, long hours on autotrader....
What am I looking at for £80k? More importantly, what is desirable and in that price range?
Sensibly, should I just scrape together another £20k and get a Mclaren (noooo!) since I'm thinking with 5k pa running expenses it will be fairly close in a couple of years....
I've read a lot of threads here about huge long lists of things that need fixing on these things, and having zero experience with super cars is something that I'm mindful of, is £3k-£5k a realistic annual budget? or indeed does that mean I've bought a stinker?
Whats the general way people do this? Have the service done at the local, and have an indy fix everything that needs fixing? -Any good independents for london?
Still thinking/planning/dreaming at the moment, so thanks for any thoughts!

I just sold my Gallardo Spyder 2008 for around that price - I also bought it for the same price 2.5 years ago...prepare for alternating major / minor services, my insurance was c£500. I would have incurred a major service and new clutch in March 2016 - hence, one of the reasons for selling and using this cost to top up and buy my next toy.
Although, have to say, I'm struggling to find my next car with the right criteria, which the Gallardo met....great car and this forum has been a good source of support for known issues.

I'm kind of in the same boat. My shortlist is F430 or Gallardo. I always swore off Ferrari after what they did to McLaren in F1 in 2007, but I have to ask if I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face...
Oh man, even they have long forgotten it themselves, I think you can move on now!HotJambalaya said:

if your heart says Gallardo, then it has to be a Gallardo.... find my buying thread from 2011, you'll find it useful....What am I looking at for £80k? More importantly, what is desirable and in that price range?

for 80k you are still in preLP territory as prices have firmed up, if it were me, I'd get a LHD gen I superleggera......
3k per annum well okay..... in 3 years all I paid for were services and tyres....
My price watch site my by useful to you

When I monitor the data each month I also maintain a list of current adverts (on AutoTrader) in the UK because I hate both the AT and PH for sale interface. They are awkward and slow when all I want is a simple listing with basic data. Please take a look and tell me what you think:

WTF!!!!! One of the most rediculous car purchasing rationals think I've ever heard... lol
well I didn't buy one as I refused to wear the compulsory Ferrari socks, polo, flat cap and so on....Oh and the picnic table with table cloth, candelabra, wicker hamper basket with fine porcelain china, lead crystal glasses and champers was the clincher. And yes, that is true and did happen at a Ferrari/Lambo meet at Cliveden!
