Gallardo Mirror
Discussion
Anyone got a spare left hand door mirror assembly as the small post in mine has cracked and Id like to repair it using a new part rather than repair the post?
I have used the online lamboweb article to remove the unit which was very useful. I dont need anymore than the central post really as the casings etc are 100%.
I have tried the breakers etc but no joy and lambo only sell the complete mirror which needs painted.
I am actually considering the carbon LP ones on ebay to upgrade the pair. Do they fit the pre LP cars as they look like they do?

LP and Pre LP mirrors are interchangeable - the exterior casings sometimes differ slightly but if you are changing the pair its not really going to matter.
I had this same issue - took a little time to find a second hand one but I did manage to find one for £100 and then I just spent some time swapping the mechanism over. The cheapest one from the dealer was like £800 for a whole unit and they go up to about £2700 for a carbon case one.

if they are tooling for it, I would suggest you get a few made and sell them off here!!
There are ten being made I think of which ill have two. However, ill need to see if they are suitable first but if anyone else is wanting one tell me ASAP.Ill see if I can cover it on here.
The repair guide although very good online uses a brass pipe threaded into the broken post but I just cant see how the wires will get through the smaller hole without being subject to friction through vibration etc. For me its only an option for a new part.
All fixed now but I used OEM parts. However, I am still to hear if the new pins have been made so its still possible that this is an option for the future.
Has anyone got a spare RHS mirror or even the remains of one? I need the bracket that is located inside the support stem section?

Nigel, did you ever find out if these posts were made up, my mirror has suffered the same fate now.
I never got them sorry. I bought a complete mirror on ebay (new old stock). It took me several hours to change them over so I could use my painted shells while I was in tears at the cost. All fixed tho.I have a spare LHS shell, motor module and stalk bracket if anyone is interested. The guide online is good.
What a PITA this problem is so you have my sympathy.

Thanks. I have a new pin/post being engineered as the original one is so weak. Its frustrating that they only sell the complete unit when its just one part that breaks.
Is the post weak, as it suppose to be sacrificial ?i.e. when a pedestrian hits it, it breaks deliberately.
just wondering - had a similar issue with a weak spring in my Diablo mirror, and Lamborghini do repair kits specifically for the springs.
