Hi,

I was going to buy a new exhaust but unplugged my vacuum pump for the exhaust valve and it sounds very similar to my pals Tubi.

The same thing has been done to another friends Spyder and it sounds very different to mine, I think there must be different OEM exhausts depending on year?

I would like to fit some Superleggera style tips, is this possible? would they fit?

Thanks!

according to eurospares.co.uk, at least four very different types of silencer were used over the years/models

interestingly, the 2007/8 sl silencer is by far the smallest, and the 570 sl is listed as using a standard 560 jobby. this would explain a few things !

I'm not sure why you'd want to fit the SL exhaust tips as they are pretty plain looking, I guess to save a few grams of weight.

Out of interest, is it possible to disable the valve on the 07/08 SL exhaust by just disconnecting the vacuum tube? I was told by a garage that it is more complicated than the standard Gallardo exhaust and the valves would need to be bunged if I wanted to do this.

my garage simply pulled two tubes apart and bunged one with a screw
hopefully someone more helpful will be along with a picture soon...

Thanks Andrew, It was a pleasant surprise as now I don't need to budget 2k plus for an exhaust.

I like the plain looking SL tips.

Epsom James.

Unscrew the large centre honeycomb grille and locate the vacuum pump in top centre just inside the car. Take the electrical connector out of the vacuum pump by squeezing the metal clip and pulling the cable to the left. Cable tie it the electrical connector to stop it rattling.

Fit honeycomb grille and go for a drive! :thumb up:

No check engine light for me. If you have this you may want to refit the electrical connector to the vacuum pump and bung one of the hoses.
