I find rapeseed oil is pretty good, but extra virgin olive oil will do if you're stuck thumbup

Must be fully synthetic, standard grade is 5w40.

They leave the factory with agip oil i think. The main dealers in the UK use Mobil.

I bought Mobil super 3000 recently, as that's what brum used last service, and sevenoaks use too. I got 15l off eBay for just over 100 and it was only a couple of months old from manufacture date.

Sure castrol edge will be fine, esp if it's approved for the Audi r8 v10.

If you are tracking it, you may want to go a higher grade, say 10w 60, in which case synthetic racing oils or some castrol oils come as. Mobil's new 1 'life' is 0w 40 but this is fine.

All the manufacturers websites (castrol, Mobil) have a 'recommendations for your car oil' configurator.

US owners tend to experiment more, google search and read some of the lambo-talk forum threads.

When I first owned my 2006 Gallardo, I visited Opies Oils in Camborne, Cornwall ( I live in Plymouth )

Their chap Phil is very knowledgeable and helpful. Ended up with Motul 8100 XS 5-40 fully synthetic. Ran the car on it until I sold it.

May be worth it to give them a bell to discuss.

By the way ,I have no connection with the company .

I would second that. Even if you don't buy your oils from him, he is always willing to give good sound advice.
I've always used: Motul 300V in mine and also for many many years in the Scoob.

But then I do come from a bike racing background so do have a tendency to be biased a bit towards Motul.
Mike Pullen always used to put Motul in their Lambos until quite recently when it simply got too expensive.

Mobil oils I've always stayed well clear of after advice from Mclarens F1 mechanics.

Hope that helps a bit.

WHAT!? They are partners working on the new turbo 6 cylinders in F1 next year. The oil is expected to be one of the more critical components. Should be a pretty heavy weight oil - grease practically. McLaren isn't happy with Mobil 1???

Motul is a great high end oil although Mobil V-twin (rather thick 20w-50) has the highest zinc and phosphorus content. Not sure about the more appropriate thinner oils for the gallardo.

When I was chatting to him about oils for the Lambo and asked what he thought of Mobil 1, his words were:
"We wouldn't put that st in our cars!"....

I guess just because they have stickers plastered on their cars doesn't mean they actually use the stuff we get in the shops?
