2008 Gallardo 6 Year Advice - thoughts..
Discussion
I won't name and shame but I had similar issues from an approved dealer. At a recent service I was quoted £4,300 for:
Minor service (£1k)
Front pads (worn out apparently)
Handbrake pads (one missing apparently)
Front discs (again worn out apparently)
Two rear tyres (apparently dangerous despite being above the markers)
Wheel alignment at an extra £450 (I can get this done on proper machines for £60)
I'd make a lousy mechanic but something didn't feel right (and it wasn't my overuse of the word 'apparently' apparently), so in the end I just went for the tyres and service (£1800 all in). I then took the car straight to Paul at PSR Automotive in Bishops Stortford for inspection. He found that only the front pads were showing signs of cracking (likely track-day heat) and we replaced these as a precaution (not worn). The discs turned out to be absolutely fine and the handbrake pads were intact despite being told otherwise.
I'm sorely tempted to write to Lamborghini about this as it's very clear the dealer in question just wanted to bend me over. Their attitude when I asked them not to do the work also sucked. In the past I've been greeted at services, had knowledgeable people talk to me about the car and how it's running, not just flung the courtesy car keys and told not to bring the thing back empty...

was it the "service manager(ess)" who quoted for all this work ?
one recently tried the hard sell on me. the only problem was that both the chaps actually doing the servicing and their chap who did the mot the day before didn't agree

mine was NOT lambo edinburgh, manchester, leicester, pangbourne, high wycombe, london or sevenoaks
I see...My dealer may or may not be on the list. Let me first see how their manager deals with my complaint - following calls and PMs this evening it's apparent I'm not the only one with a gripe regarding unnecessary work.
Thanks for the tip with the wipers...fits like a dream and the ford logo at the tips adds a bit of humour....thanks V10 BAT..hope your well....and a saving of £80.00
Great job done by HR Owen on my 6 year service..was good to see the service team at the Geneva Motorshow whilst my car was still with them...Lamborghini stand was clearly the best.
Thanks to Ed and Paul King @ HR Owen.
