Front number plate
Discussion
Can't help observing that 308/328 look much better without a front number plate. Fully appreciate that this is against the law in the UK, but wondered whether anyone's front plate has fallen off and whether this has resulted in any issues. For context, I had a Mclaren for a few months which was without a front plate when I bought it for some reason and I never got around to sorting for the 6 months I had the car without any problems. I recently bought a 328 and wondering whether I'd just been lucky with the McLaren or nobody really cares?
A regular topic on Lamborghini forums, which look even worse with front plates, but still illegal not to have them.
You can keep a spare set in the boot and if there is evidence the car has mountings for plates then you may get away with a warning, otherwise it’s a fine (£100?).
Comes down to how lucky you feel and whether you will be nervous every time you see a police car. I have a Huracan with a quick release mount for the front plate so I can remove it when I am feeling lucky.
The number of Aventadors with front plates you can count on one hand, but having met a few of them I doubt many of the owners give a toss about legality or fines.

I really Ferrari et al are being a bit st with building cars that look stupid with front plates, or actually making cars were plates just don't fit.
My 458 came without a plate, but I am not that comfortable without, or actually the wife isn't and they look daft with. I just bought a carbonio holder, which in reality is a couple of being told offs for not having one.
But that's the risk you take.

The 308/328 GTB/GTS cars came from the factory far better equipped to accept a standard front number plate than modern Ferrari's (even though every new car sold has to have the capability of carrying a front plate, from the factory, the modern Ferrari's make it such a design afterthought)
Running a 308/328 without a front plate would be no different to all the knobheads driving their BMW's/Audi's/VW's etc., etc., etc,. without a front plate - There's just no real point to it, because the car was designed to have a plate.
I have a standard front plate on my 328 GTS, and I can't say at any point that I've thought the front plate makes the car look ugly (and I've never had anyone else look at my car and say: "The front plate ruins it!")
Your car - Your choice: Just don't complain if you run no front plate and get pulled over for it!
