I've just seen the blue F40 on CC's currently over £2m. Have I missed something as I thought F40's were generally around £1m obviously dependent on condition etc.

pound - dollar has a lot to do with this.

12 months ago they had already increased from around £1M (as most cars had) to around £1.3M or $2M in the USA for a good one.

1 year ago £1 was $1.4. So $2M was £1.43M

Now £1 is $1.1 so $2M is £1.82M

So £/$ is most of the increase and owners are shipping to the states.

Most high end collectable cars have increased significantly in the past year due to the fall in the pound.

I bet Sam Moores is suffering buyers regret big time.

That makes sense .. and of course they are all LHD so no issue for US. Yes I can imagine Sam Moores being "disappointed" that he didn't keep hold of it. I'm also disappointed that I didn't look at them seriously a lot earlier. It will be interesting to see where it ends up and whether it does go to the US.

Wow, that's a big jump in a short space of time. It sold for 'only' £1m on a different auction platform last year, so it's already more than doubled with 4 days left on the current auction.

saw that today and the Enzo sitting at 3.2m or some such number. Thought people are mental

Didn't somebody on here trade his nearly new F430 Spider for an F40? nice how that worked out in terms of driving pleasure and financials.

Not in the same league but just spotted a early 430 manual on Car&Classic for £310.000,

15,000miles which is nice mileage but not ultra low, Don't thing there will be a queue at the door unless

you know something i don't scratchchin

That doesn't make sense. I wonder what the auction prices are on those at the moment. I haven't been following but I imagine half that

Didn't realise Enzo's were worth so much more than F40's, I know technically the Enzo is the better car but from the more subjective angle of iconic status I would have thought F40's are considerably more desirable.

Three times more F40s than Enzos (~1200 vs 400)

I would have an Enzo over an f40 also! I am 31 y/o btw many younger millionaires would have had an. Enzo on the wall over an f40.

I wasn't sure on the numbers of Enzos but I suppose that does mostly explain it, plus as I said, how ''iconic'' a car is regarded is largely subjective anyway, but for me personally it would be the F40 every time.

Had actually thought that are the prices on this collection that the F40 is on being bumped up by the owner or his

family or friends as it didn't seem real, the high figures were very early on in the bidding ,most of the time with auctions

the high bids are towards the end , dealers are not asking anywhere near those prices ,most being POA but will now give them

the excuse to raise their prices without anyone knowing , even a Camaro went very quickly to £60K which is crazy money for that

model and it's not even a classic,

Not sure if i'm right or wrong in this crazy market but something just doesn't add up.

Had my first E Type when i was 19 ,now 71 next mouth so been into classics and in and out of recessions all my motoring life

but never seen anything like this before and in such a short period.confused

I agree something doesn't really add up with these, the reserve is not even met on the F40. In fact, only 3 of the cars do have the reserve met. Of course that affords some bids to bump up the price as I believe the auction houses are entitled to do.

I don't expect this to be a popular comment but I also preferred this F40 in it's previous white LM guise as it was in Japan. Although a standard red one would be my choice if I can ever afford one

I assume this Sam Li has more to do with CC than he lets on? He claims he's the biggest user of the platform, buying and selling most weeks, although he also claims he's bought a new car every week since 1993. Surely he has friends in places at CC hence most of his collection has high bids but not many reserves met?

Would love to know what else he has in his collection, I know he has 9 911 Singers of various kinds. He also recently hired a race track for his friends to drive his LMP car collection round the track.

"Mr Pink" has bid £5,300,500 between F40 and Enzo alone...
