I know nothing but it hardly takes a good salesman does it? Surely if someone wants an ultra rare Ferrari they want it.

Who on earth would entrust a sale of that magnitude or purchase to him anyway?

If I were in the owner or buyer I would want someone like DK Engineering, Gregor Fisken or Talacrest to oversee the sale for me.

Clearly Lord Laidlaw must have been impressed with the way Tom Hartley Junior also handled the sale of his 275 GTS/4 NART Spyder #11057GT.

That's fine. I make no excuses for taking my hat off to anyone who sells a car for a new World Record price. Carry on and throw up some more!!!

Here's a photo of it in the early 1990s when Stephen Pilkington owned it.

At the end of the day I assume it's just a SOR car sale. I find it strange that there's so much commission earned on something like this. As a previous poster stated, it's not exactly a hard sell is it? Probably tougher to shift an old Mondeo and make five hundred quid nowadays. Also interesting that Lord Irvine appears to have been selling off his collection of blue chip cars in recent years...

The blue GTO at Talacrest last year seemed to take a few months to shift. I imagine the market of potential buyers is quite small.

He was acting as a broker/middleman rather than SOR surely (i.e. it was never advertised before the announcement).

I've used THJ before, and was very professional. Has a good reputation for being straight, and is well-backed as well as profitable.
He makes money, but so do most people who are good at what they do! There are others who look bigger/more established but are not as financially secure.

Offered me a good price to buy car in to stock, which I turned down, and he then got a bit more for me, by selling SOR. (But in hindsight I should have taken his offer, as the gain was marginal and it could easily have gone unsold)

Similar cars with others, have not shifted since, and I'm sure I'll buy or sell with him in future.

I believe that the highest price was $70 million a year or two ago to the guy who started Weathertech in the IS. Private
