348 Front Cavallino
Discussion
Hi all
I've a 348 TB 1992, and the front cavallino badge on the fake grille broke.
Easy fix I thought, but no. all the sizes I have found (and ordered!) from superformance are the wrong size for the two bolts. I could mess about and start grinding and welding but there must be a badge out there that fits!
Anyone else had this problem?

It is likely the existing badge is aftermarket since it wasn't a standard fitment on the cars when new. Therefore, to get the bolts to match up it will probably necessary to measure the existing spacing and shop around until you find one with the same spacing - or get your welding and hacking gear out.
I've recently replaced both the front and rear on my 1990 TS. From "Quiff" to "shoe" it should be approx 76mm
Its part# 60032109 and can be bought from Maranello for £28. Ignore the desciption that says its a rear one as it is...but on other cars.

NB Despite buying a genuine one the bolts on it were thinner than my "original" but it fitted fine.

Let's get a few things straight:Early 348 TB/TS' didn't come from the factory without a prancing horse mounted to the front grill, and the grills had no fixings on them to mount a badge to.
Later on, Ferrari made a grill available for the TB/TS that had brackets fabricated and welded onto them, so that a prancing horse could be mounted to it:
Grill - Part No. : 62126100
Prancing horse - Part No. : 60032109
The GTB/GTS came with a modified grill that had brackets for a prancing horse to be mounted to:
Grill - Part No. : 63955100
Prancing horse - Part No. : 63603800
Owners with an early car, who's grill does not have the brackets present to mount the horse on, only need to buy the horse (either horse can be fitted - At the moment Eurospares are selling Part No. 60032109 for £20.81 : https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/348-199... so I'd go with that one [that's the one I bought for my 348] ).
To mount the horse to the grill, all you need to do is fabricate simple brackets out of a thin strip of tin or aluminium, that sits behind the grill, that the horse then bolts to (see here for an example of brackets that need to be made: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/mounting... ).
You don't need to cut, drill, weld or do anything to your grill - It remains untouched.
I notice that the OP doesn't say what size prancing horse he has bought. If it's the 113mm horse then the bolts will be in completely the wrong places.
If it's the 75mm horse, then they should be in the right place.
NOTE: The correct size, as fitted by the factory is the 75mm size. The 113mm horse can be fitted, but personally, to me it looks too big and unsubtle.
