Price paid by David MacNeil of Illinois, USA was actually just a little bit less than $70M.

Harry Metcalfe put a tweet on this morning saying he knew of a 250GTO which changed hands recently for $80m. He doesn't seem the sort to fabricate lies although I don't know him personally

Most of the press are saying $70MM.

Was it sold at auction?

Did Talacrest sell the 250 GTO they had for sale a few months ago?

He does not make things up. AFAIK his source was working off less accurate information. I am told by people with greater knowledge that it was sub-$70m.

Do remember: the gap between the 'worst' and the very best 250 GTOs is something like £20m.

I don’t know much about classic Ferrari’s but is any car worth 70/80 million? Obviously it is to some people but I can’t comprehend spending that kind of dosh on a car
