308 GTS buyers beware!
Discussion
Currently there is a 1981 308 GTSi being offered for sale in the classifieds from a vendor in Oxfordshire that is being advertised as one of 184 genuine RHD cars, but it is in fact a converted LHD car.
The advert mentions that the car was originally supplied to Switzerland, and that on being brought to the UK, the speedometer was converted from KPH to MPH, but still claims it is an original RHD car.
The Chassis No. ZFFHA02B000035057 decodes as being a European LHD car:
(If the car was a genuine RHD car then the eighth digit would be a "C" and not a "B").
Added to that, the wipers and centre console also indicate that the car was a LHD originally.
I emailed the vendor a couple of months ago when they ran the same advert to inform them that they were falsely representing the car - Which was ignored, and I have emailed them again this time (and I suspect they will again ignore My email).
To anyone looking at buying a 308 GTS, be aware that this car is not a genuine RHD car! - It is a converted LHD car!
