Hi, can anyone recommend a good book that outlines the different variants and history to these cars?

I can see quite a few options on Amazon but its hard to gauge without actually seeing them. I'm more interested the history and the varieties as well as some nice pictures to boot.

Any help greatly appreciated

For what you're after I think Robert Foskett's book is probably your best bet https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ferrari-308-328-348-Compl... (N.B. That isn't necessarily the best price for it).

I would certainly recommend Keith Bluemel's Original Ferrari V8 but I don't think you'll find a copy for a sensible price.

The original V8 book will be expensive now but it's excellent.

I still have copies of Keith Bluemel's "Original Ferrari V8" and "Original Ferrari V12" gathering dust on my bookshelves, bought new years ago for about £20 each when I still had my 308 GTB. They are excellent references, covering each model in scrupulous detail with good accompanying photography too. Haven't really looked at them for ages, having slightly lost interest in Ferraris of late, but they're in good nick so I suspect they might find themselves on eBay soon...

I have two copies too somewhere in a box. Probably the best book on the subject and the information was invaluable to me prior to buying my first 308 (when initially I thought I wanted a 328). It may be expensive these days but well worth it.

Wow. I have a signed copy of "Original Ferrari V8". I hadn't realised just how much the book now sells for, there is one on Ebay for £473. Why is it worth so much?
