365BB - They don't surface that often do they!
Discussion
Keeping in mind how many enthusiasts litter this forum..I thought you would all appreciate catching sight of what can only be a very rare beauty.
A 1975 Ferrari 365BB (RHD) - 1 of 86 ever made worldwide in RHD, in total 1 of 386 cars originally made. & amazingly originally a UK delivered car...Except I tracked it down in Japan!
I was lucky enough when visiting this car for a pre purchase inspection to then have the mechanic who has looked after the car for many many years take me for a 30min spin across the Japanese countryside where this particular car now lives, although in it's early years it pootled round Mayfair. Amazing the lives cars lead.
One thing that instantly struck me apart from the lovely growl of the Flat 12 as it kicked into life was the sheer elegance of the lines. This really was a different era for Ferrari, especially when this car was launched at the Turin show...After all, it was designed to rival the Miura initially. You really drink in the lines..Admittedly my poster F cars have always been the Testarossa's, F40's, F50's - That's my era. However, the romance, elegance & sheer class exuded by the older generation of 250/275/330/365/512 is just timeless & with us 4 chaps standing around the car letting it warm up, we all looked at it admiringly.
Then...The drive! Blitzing across the dusk roads in Japan - A 365BB being pedalled by a Japanese mechanic turned wheelman, it was quite an experience & I'm sure the last thing locals would've expected zip past them! The car even now STILL feels quick (I've driven everything from 458/12C's to Sledghammer AMG's, but this was a genuinely exploitable, usable, FUN & nimble little F Car which left me grinning on our return back to the garage where the aforementioned wheelman thought it prudent to ensure the other chaps could hear this particular V12 coming, the noise!! It's a proper Ferrari noise! With the succint click of the gears in the gate & the neck snap burst of the throttle...It made me realise why these things really are so special. They still have that character, feel & enjoyment you can ONLY get with the previous generation...As fantastic as the modern F cars are, they aren't a patch on the classics for THAT feeling that those of us as petrolheads spend years trying to find as we swap from one modern car to another. THIS is where it can be found...Cars of a by gone era.
...I loved it. Classic Ferrari's...they're an expensive hobbie what with how the market is & how cars like this are being bought up to literally "hold" money, but my god I want one. Alas it can't be this one as it's going on the market but it's definitely a case of "One day..."

stunning. And years before mass production and cheap finance, a Ferrari was a rare and special thing to witness on the road......
And yet if you watch old episodes of Magnum P.I, notice how few people in the background pay the Ferrari any attention when it's driven on the open public streets! (Rather than specially closed roads).(They can't all have been extras paid to not notice the car!)
