I bought my 308 GT4 several years ago for a 4 figure sum. With prices as they are I'm tempted to sell it, wait for the bubble to burst then buy another one. In all likelihood sentimentality and the fact this one has been reliable means that I'll Hold. But I'd be interested to gauge opinion.
I am in the same position as you, owned my 308gt4 for last 20 yrs. Many times thought about selling, but what would I buy and if its a bubble and sell now for a good profit. Then wait and get another when or if prices fall. But bear in mind that if you have had your as I for many years you know the car and would say that its a good one which is hard to find. If you sell and then buy another and have to put money into the car then the price you made in the first place would disappear. For me that would'nt be a problem as I restored the car myself, but parts prices are now going up or hard to find. Currently I am not selling mine as there are not many on the road and its nice to drive something that's different, though I have said if they hit £100k then this wipes out my mortgage and I would consider selling, then look back on 20 yrs + fond memories!
I would probably sell, not because I think a price fall is imminent but because in general I think experiencing many cars is good and with th money you can get from it now you can certainly choose something you want to earn, maybe something that you think will value a bit more in some years time...
I'm another member of the "I bought my GT4 a long time ago (when nobody else wanted one) and it is now worth a lot more than it used to be" club. However that's conveniently ignoring the time and money spent to get it right...
I vote "hold" and plan to have more fun with mine yet; I know if I sold it the chances of getting hold of another piece of Italian exotica are not high.
