'Barn Find' Dino
Discussion
Anyone fancy taking a guess at what this will go for? Looks like it's barely holding together. I recall contemplating one requiring full restoration for £37k before deciding on the 355. My Fiat Dino Spider was still mid restoration and I couldn't face another.

At least the auction house have had the honesty to use the correct description of the cars condition: 'rotten as a pear'
I think this will go for close to 100k.
The actual engine, transmission and other oily bits should be salvageable.
A horrific restoration bill combined with the log book could still bring this in at or below the price of a ready to go car.
A lot will depend on who restores the car and to what standard.

Pleased with my guesstimate, will be a nice car once it is done in a few years.
I find it funny when I can remember looking at these 10 years ago and this would pretty much the highest you could pay for one, even then most were around 60-80k.

I can remember about 20 years ago when these were not an expensive car at all and a bit of saving would have got you one. If only.

It'll owe 220k min and it isn't a GTS. I'd worry about owning a 246 that owed me that much in 2015.I find it funny when I can remember looking at these 10 years ago and this would pretty much the highest you could pay for one, even then most were around 60-80k.

that has nothing to do with it , you miss the point , if you want me to i am happy to explain "market forces" to you
I know all about market forces. I studied the subject in depth after the last time classic car prices bubbled in this way; 1990. I could also explain CAPM, Arbitrage Pricing Theory and why these are relevant to those that choose to include cars in their portfolio and what effect the rebalancing of a portfolio could have on certain asset classes. But it sounds like you already have a good handle on such influencers. Or maybe you are simply long on Dinos? It seems to me that the only market force right now is greed and people hoping they can get in and out again on the up side of the slope.
Having watched this back in the 90s I find it hilarious and sad at the same time.
I wonder if people will start spending 100k on Mk2 Jags again or vacuum bagging new cars?
