Refinishing will come later, but what's the best method for DIY cleaning the stickiness off?

sorry i cannot provide an answer, but
i have a Maserati, a brand that was also afflicted with sticky button syndrome.
if you do a google search eg 'Maserati sticky buttons' you will find many threads, although very few resolutions
you have to be careful with some buttons as trying to remove the stickiness will also remove the sign/lettering on the buttons, as these were laser etched onto the buttons after they were coated..
the top of the indicator buttons on my F12 are starting to get sticky....currently i am accepting it.
please do post if you come across something that you have tried and works...

Brake/clutch cleaner will take it off, but it will remove the laser etched details too.

Thanks. I'm not bothered about the symbols/lettering.

If you’re not bothered about the lettering the brake and clutch cleaner will sort it. I did all mine last year (355) and I’m about to do the three trim panels around the rear boot lid, which have also gone sticky.

Virosol off ebay with a soft nail brush will bring the coating off especially if combined with "sticky stuff remover" from Halfords.

Did all the plastics on my car and then coated them with Halfords black satin plastic bumper paint.

Nice. I’ll give that bumper paint a go on those trim parts.

I do pretty much everything with it and it appears to stick to everything and it lasts too without chipping or fading. Secret is to warm the can in warm water for about 10 mins beforehand)

Rear window trim (which also goes sticky)

Steering column shroud

All the vents

Windscreen heater vents

Door pulls

Central console

Windscreen wiper arms

Scuttle panel and inner arches
