Time for another road trip in the F12.

Ferry tomorrow (Hull - Rotterdam), Baden Baden on Tuesday, Como Wednesday and then the Alfa Museum before heading off to pick the Mrs up from Pisa Airport Thursday. Florence for three nights, then Malcasine on Lake Garda for 3 nights via the Ferrari Museum in Modena, then Como for 3 nights followed by Portofino for 3 nights. Night at an airport hotel before she flies back and then I'm away to Garda, Munich (BMW Museum) and Frankfurt for a night each before catching the ferry back. 6 days at home then before heading off with some mates in my 458 Spider for another one. :-)

Packed up ready to go. I'll post pics and what have you as I go.

Nice.

I was really offed when they canned Hull - Zebrugger. We had a great place to stay in Bruge with a good safe underground car park.

It’s a real pain going down south to catch a train.

Hope you have a great time (why wouldn’t you!) and please post plenty of updates.

Please be aware that the Black Forest now has a 45mph speed limit from toe to top (Baden Baden), along with speed cameras. I was there last month where I, also, passed a mobile speed camera. It's now ruined and makes visiting Baden Baden pointless for me.

Could you possibly put an envy warning on such topics in the future, OP?

Thanks for that. I may jump on the motorway to Switzerland from baden baden then and use the saved time to drive some Swiss passes.

Lol.

Just book it and go mate. I do 3-4 a year in different cars with different groups of friends plus an mtb trip to the alps.

Long time dead.

Lovely little town and well worth a stop.

On a lads trip next month we’re staying in Sinsheim though as I’m taking that bunch to the Autotechnica museum as they’ve not been. Also well worth a visit.

We used to stay in Stuttgart but visited the Mercedes museum (excellent) and Porsche museum (good) so many times we need a change.

Hi Leg, glad to see you’re on the road again. Mrs Wombat and I took the Portofino to North Italy and France for the last two weeks of June. Lake Como (Villa d’Este), Portofino (Splendido Mare - I had to take the Portofino to Portofino!) and then St Tropez, with various stops in between. We called it our greatest hits tour because, not having driven in Continental Europe since before the pandemic, we just went to places we loved rather than new places. Had absolutely no delays at the tunnel or anywhere else. In fact crossing from Switzerland into Italy the two border guards were having such an animated “discussion “ with each other that they didn’t bother to check whether we had passports and just waved us through (the power of Ferrari in Italy?)

That’s exactly what we’re doing, old favourites rather than new for the same reason.

It’s my 4th trip into Europe this year but the others were an mtb trip to the Italian alps with the Transporter, a lotus track day trip and a lotus road trip from Spain, through France, monaco, up to Chamonix, across to st Moritz, loop via the Stelvio to Davos and up through baden baden.

We had no problems either and a French border guard also couldn’t be arsed with my passport when I climbed into the back of the transporter, tripped on a bag whilst rooting for my passport and ended up laid out amongst bikes and kit. He just laughed and waved me on. I guess he decided no terrorist or drug smuggler could be that inept.

Last time I tour the Exige, it’s so heavily modded for track now it’s barely bearable on the road.

Cue gratuitous pics. ;-)

Track day trip was ace though….

As was the mtb trip…

We are off to Reims in September, looking for good road recommendations in the area.

Reims is a quick stop for us. So will not have much advice.

Are those bikes chained up. A bit of rough water and there could be trouble.

Strapped on. I checked.

Zero chance of me leaving the car there without double checking those bikes were secure and getting the concierge’s word that any further bikes would be.

Great trip and wonderful that you actually use the car as intended and not leave it as a static object.
