What are the must haves on an 812. Front lifter. Will a car light on carbon be a pig to move on? Any colours to avoid?
Before I pull the trigger please advise .

Cheers

Mine has no lifter and never missed it however if my drive or garage entrance was on a steeper angle I'd want it. It can be retro fitted whatever.
Must haves for me personally were Carbon racing seats although the Full electric ones are supremely comfortable and better for a drive down to Monaco.
Carbon Fibre is purely a personal preference on aesthetic grounds alone but do make cars much more saleable and as a consequence more expensive. Its all located on the bottom of the car making it prone to rash so PPF essential.

I'd always buy one with either Alcantara or Leather headliner as I don't like the standard lining
.
Carbon Fibre inside is an absolute 'must have' unless the car is much cheaper. This includes the Steering wheel. dashboard and central bridge. The CF upper console trim is very nice and very expensive new but not as common as the CF bridge.

The wing shields are essential but never seen an 812 without them so a moot point.

Colour is subjective but I love them in any of the Three/four layers which wer about £17k new. Of the standard colours they look great in any of the Grigios and particularly in dark Blues, TDF or Pozzi to name a few.

To keep the best for last make sure the car has the optional Forged wheels. The Forged Racing wheels are my favourite which are 13kg lighter than the standard cast ones and 6kg lighter than the twisty forged ones. The Racing wheels also include the Titanium wheel bolts which look so much better than the awful standard shiny chrome ones.

If you look at the options list there's so much choice on the standard models, before you even get to Atelier or TM, that I doubt there is a minimum spec. Probably the color, seats and the sound system upgrade are the main thing to look for?

812 exterior carbon tends to be all or nothing because it’s all concentrated around the bottom of the car and would look odd with only some of it there. It can of course be retro-fitted as a price. I omitted it completely in my on-order GTS.

Interior carbon is different, it’s on the sports seat backs and I like it in the “driver zone” so to speak. I’ve omitted it around the air vents this time, I have it on my V8s and it contributes little.

If you like to listen to music, the sound system upgrade improves it a lot. The front lift depends entirely on where you drive and the sound of a Ferrari scraping along the road is not one of the best. For me, where I live, where I drive, it’s essential.

Rear parking camera is essential, sensors all round are standard and opinion varies about the surround and front cameras. The cruise radar introduces a nasty cut out in the front grill which looks like a failed GCSE metalworking project.

Agree about the forged wheels and titanium wheel bolts. Shields too, £8k for the painted ones…

What else? Endless interior colour choices, my instinct is to keep it simple and tie the interior to the exterior with coloured detailing. You can find horrendous examples online, often in the US, which are the result of endless box ticking. The secret to a successful configuration IMHO is knowing when to stop, though I accept I err on the side of caution.

Good luck!

All of this is very good advice indeed.

Sound system, (mine has standard and it's rubbish). I'm not in favour of exterior carbon, I think it looks over the top and a bit chavy but appreciate that's just my view :-)

Good luck!

I bought my 812 in January after quite a bit of searching and missing out on a couple of cars because I was too slow.

The only option I don't think anyone has mentioned is apple CarPlay. Mine has it and it is really good for navigation, other than that I wouldn't bother plugging my phone in for music. I was looking for passenger display but the car I bought doesn't have it and I don't miss it.

Tbh I’ve had apple car play on a few of my special cars and even my daily and basically it’s wasted on me. I’d rather use Waze for direction and camera warning, from memory the Ferrari sat nav isn’t great either.

Apple CarPlay and the Passenger Display are two options which have attracted ridicule for the function delivered for the huge price paid. It’s interesting that both of these options are standard on the 296 GTB, maybe Ferrari have at last seen the need to provide added value.

I like Apple Car Play but I agree that passenger display is a complete waste of money (and I regret spec’ing it). Mrs Wombat used it for about the first month we had the car and it hasn’t been used since.

That's probably just as well...
