I have an F8 in blu corsa which is a £7k option and am about to specify an 812 GTS and the colour I like is Rosso Maranello. It’s a triple layer paint job and I wonder if anyone knows how much it costs. I hear amounts from £15k to as high as £25k at which point it becomes a bit much for me. I think it’s in the same league as Rosso Fuoco and Giallo Triplo Strato.

I was informed by my Ferrari dealer's Sales guy that the Rosso Fuoco on my 812 cost £17.5k when new. Amazing colour however I'm not sure I'd have the stomach to pick it myself.

Thank you, it’s obviously an option which gives you nothing back at resale time and might even count against you given the higher cost of repairs…

Not sure if it’s Fuoco or Maranello but one of them effectively is Mazda Blaze Red.

It’s a thread on Fchat somewhere.

The cost you've heard is about right. It won't be Ferrari that paint it though, it'll be Zanasi, in Maranello, who do all the Ferrari special paint finishes. We've been around their units, and these triple layer jobs are an absolute mission to do. They told us it was effectively a mirror finish which is then sprayed with coloured lacquer. The pieces of the car have to be virtually on top of each other for spraying rather than separated on a jig, or the panels won't match.

If you do get it, I'd suggest you ppf the whole car, because you have no chance of matching the paint for any subsequent damage.

Yes. I mentioned this to Topaz and they recommended PPF-ing the whole car and they weren’t just touting for business. I’ll discuss with the dealer because I am not sure I want the angst and hassle!!

Actual cost on Ferrari spec sheet is £15,360 including VAT.

Yes I have the full PPF too as this is a very sensible plan!

Thanks, a far cry from using a rattle can on my first Italian sports car, an X1/9…

Yes, I remember the metallic orange wasn’t very good at hiding the rust before sale!!
