Carbonio licence plate mounts
Discussion
Just bought a third licence plate mount from carbonio in the US. They use 3M sticky pads to attach the licence plate to the mount.
The difference is that they are now only supplying an alcohol wipe to clean the back of the licence plate where previously they supplied a chemical activator sponge which resulted in rock solid adhesion.
My advice is to buy the activator sponge online and use it instead of the alcohol wipe they now supply.

Have you tested the pads without it and they don't work as well?
I took off my short private plate off my old 488 Carbonia holder, gave it a thorough wash and after drying stuck it to my new 812 Carbonia holder. Seems to be stuck on hard and to make sure i pressed hard for over a minute where the pads are.I think the issue is that with the activator, the grip is so strong that it can pull the back off the number plate first if you try to separate it. Some were complaining when their plate was damaged even though a replacement plate is inexpensive. So they’ve moved to using just a wipe to clean the back of the plate and I expect it’s perfectly useable. However, having used two of their mounts already this year, I know how effective the activator is and they are sending me one as it is what I expected. They are insistent though that the alcohol wipe is fine.
