It’s a bit…pepperami, isn’t it? Bloody engine is unhinged smile

What kind of power plant burbles along in top at 25mph? Lulls you into a false “fat Aussie bd” sense of security and gruffly leans on the torque for normal speeds. Then you press the throttle just that tiny bit more and Meatloaf fking erupts!

Engines just aren’t supposed to do that! Then, when you take your foot off the throttle, the bloody car grumbles at you! It’s like throwing a boat anchor out the back just easing off the throttle and I swear the car sort of chunters at you.

Isabella Rossellini on wheels.

Glad you're enjoying it. I've owned mine for a while now and I agree. The one thing I still can't get used to are the breaks. Seem to be very difficult to regulate. Big dead spot at the top of the pedal then you get everything all in one go. Very hard to be controlled and gentle all of the time. I have a V12 Vantage with carbon ceramics and I'm very used to how these breaks feel - but the F12 break feel isn't one of the best I've experienced.

Some good weather coming up now so hope you get to use it smile

Cheers,

Chris.

Hi I agree with both comments, that engine is unhinged ! I have put 200 cell cats and an x pipe on mine OMG !!! one of the best sounding cars full stop and it feels more responsive.
The brakes could feel better at slow speed...... but what a car !!!

best not drive a 812 as i may want one.
actually it would have to be a GTS !

I thought I would be swapping her for an 812GTS in 3 yrs. In truth I cant really see that happening. Im not a fan of 812 design at all. Ill probably just swap down into a Porto M for my drop top stuff.

Reminds me of the first time I drove an F12 in the wet in London traffic. Totally shocking what happened when I gently squeezed the throttle.

Performance bargains at the price they are now comparative to 458/488

No offence taken smile

One more question - does anyone have noisy rear suspension? I hear a lot of clunks - specifically changing gear in manual mode. Ferrari dude said its because the boot is so open the noise travels. I don't think anything is broken but checking this is normal.

Cheers

Chris.

agree with OP, I've not driven the 812 but I just can't see why you'd need any more power than the F12

I agree you don’t need any power than an F12. The impressive thing with the 812 is that despite having more power and shorter gearing, it’s traction and ability to get the power down is so much better than the F12. Still need to treat it with respect though. The 812 eggs you on like no other car I’ve ever had… certainly not a GT and much more of an event to drive than any of the traditional mid engined supercars I’ve owned. A real rollercoaster of adrenaline!

I like the burbling round in top though, always have. Ive always been a torque man rather than 8000rpm man. Ragging away in the lower gears to speed holds relatively little interest for me. Its hilariously silly to experience it in the F12 every now and then, but its the slightly unhinged way it goes about it that I like. The 812 being a bit more civilised or more traction etc...hmm...well, I am Blackpool scum at the end of day, so Im never going to escape my TVR roots smile

But its that elasticity of what the engine can do that I love. Its got the same inner psychosis as the Sagaris. She wants to lope and kill me at the same time smile

Mine is also a bit "clonky" when changing gear on occasion particularly at low throttle openings and just pootling. Pretty sure what I can hear is the transaxle, ie. the car actually changing gear rather than something from the suspension.

Took her out today on a 30min to get some shopping. Hilariously twitchy!
The road are quite dusty and dirtyish at the mo, after the rain, then todays sun and all the tourists on top of the normal tractor stuff. The slightest heavy than necessary twitch of the right foot had her squirraly and the rear dancing a touch. Have to be so so careful and respectful, its absolutely fantastic.

The best best best thing I can say about this car is its basically a TVR done properly. It simply wants to try and kill you...but in a playful fun manner.

Its awesome!

nuts aren't they, I think people overly love the tdf for being raw when the t12 itself is already nuts

Well done Leg.
I was doing the weekly shop in mine smile

I suspect not many F12s are seen in the carpark of B&M Bargains! For anybody who is a fan of proper Lions Midget Gems and Sports Mixtures...B&M sell them! Im an addict smile
