New FF

Hi all
after doing a fair amount of research i've bitten the bullet and bought my first Ferrari. An FF which I am due to collect next weekend. I am after advice on what to look out for generally, any do's, dont's etc..
think this will be the longest week in a very long time!

Don’t let the fuel tank run dry. You will kill one or both of the fuel pumps and despite them being notionally covered under warranty, Ferrari will refuse to honour it. Ask me how I know (and it wasn’t me who ran the tanks dry).

The best bet is to fill up when you’ve still got a couple of bars left on the fuel gauge.

As for the driving, if you’re going to use Auto, put the mannetino in Sport and press the bumpy road button. Auto Comfort induces too much driveline shunt as it changes up too early and down too late.

And if you’re tempted to fit non FF or Lusso wheels, ensure that they have a high enough load rating as the FF is a heavy beast. None of the other Ferrari wheels (including F12 and 812) are rated for the load of the FF.

MPS4S are the best tyre for the car. If you’re on Pirelli, change them.

And as this is your first Ferrari, join Ferrarichat. It’s a friendly place and huge resource of experience.

A friend of mine recently got one as his first Ferrari.

Congratulations, it is one of the best cars I have ever driven.

Not sure of your other fast car experience, but just in case you weren't aware despite being technically all wheel drive, the FF is predominantly (and sometimes entirely) RWD - so in slippy conditions it will kick the rear out.

Sport mode + Bumpy road is the best setting for fast road driving until you're used to the car.

Make sure you put good fuel in, don't let it run dry as per above and get very friendly with your local petrol station staff

I imagine like most modern Ferraris it will appreciate trickle charging if left for more than a week or so

Then trickle charge is something I need to look into. I’m trying to rent a garage so far now it will be parked on the road. Is it possible to have a trickle charger connected to some sort of solar set up?
Also does anyone have any recommendations for a decent car cover

I've used a solar charger that plus into the OBD2 port on my Golf daily when out of the country for a few months.

Don't bother with a cover. I had one and it burned through the paint on my 355 in a couple of spots.

I got one 6 weeks ago. I’ve been taking it easy but getting more confident as I get a handle on the way power is delivered and the handling. I absolutely love it so far.

one more sleep - having had to jump through all sorts of hoops this week, finally got confirmation that the car is ready to pick up tomorrow. im like a kid at xmas eve!

Dont worry - i'm fully aware of the need to post the obligatory pics. still not quite sunk in that im getting my first Ferrari tomorrow. A few Years ago this was a pipe dream!

I drove a collegue's FF last week and totally forgot how amazing they are.

Beautifully damped ride that takes speed humps better than any car I know. Direct steering, lovely seats and driving position and stunning interior. A smooth gearchange.

Ironically the engine (though epic) is not the stand out feature. Its much more the feeling of wellbeing, comfort and understatement.

The only negatives are slightly noisy tyre roar and a horrible infotainment system.

Congrats and I am sure you are already loving your new purchase.
