Hoping to get into an 812SF soon. Sat in a showroom car briefly last year with daytona style leather carbon racing seats and found them very firm. Quite a few of the online reviews and articles I’ve seen have commented on the racing seats being uncomfortable for long journeys. This seems to be a common theme. I have the large carbon racing seats in a Speciale with the 3D fabric and alcantara and these are comfortable. Can anyone here with first hand 812 ownership experience share their views on the racing seats and / or the sports seats - whichever you have. Thanks.

Cant help with your exact dilemma, but I thought about seats just yesterday with regards to a 599 as long distance car and figured i would not want the racing seats from the GTO as I do find the seats in my Scuderia a little uncomfortable on long drives. I guess it depends on the definition of long drive, but everything in excess of 4-5 hours, the relatively hard seats / shape of the seats is not great for me. I can happily sit all day in Porsche buckets though and am generally a proponent of lightest and deepest seats possible in every car.

The seats in the 599HGTE are the best seats i've ever sat in and better than any of Ferrari's current offerings. I'm also hoping to get an 812 later this year and seats are a real dilemma. I've only had the Carbon race seats aon my Ferraris however on an 812 i'm really tempted to get the heated electric ones preferably in Daytona style. For a start the passenge side Carbon race seats have no optional height adjustement and sit very low which will be fine for my 6'2'' son but not so good for my 5'5'' daughter.

Definitely going to have to try them specifically in the 812. Finally got to sit in 812 with standard seats this week and at 6’3’’ found my hair was brushing the roof and felt much more ‘perched’ than I thought I would. Race seats are much better space wise, but I agree the firmness for me in the lumbar region and lack of wriggle room for driver and passenger is an issue after 2 hours behind the wheel of my 488 and previous 458.
If I was shorter, I’d definitely go comfort as I want to do more touring in this car. Now also considering a GTC4 V12 as I found the driving position to be incredibly comfortable.....

I can't imagine the racing seats in a GT; I've always opted for the standard or daytona-style for electric adjustment and heating, and have just done so again for the GTS. They are also easier to get out of when you're wearing a skirt.

I have exactly those seats the large Daytona racing seats. I 50, 6ft, slight on the wrong side of tuby and I have had no problems with them whatsoever. In my opinion they look far better than the standard seats.

Thanks for the feedback. So individual size, shape, attire(!) and intended use are the considerations, and sensible to try before you buy. Will take a few hours out to visit a showroom over the next couple of weeks.
Have made myself known to a few dealerships so if a car comes up in my preferred colours and spec in the meantime, I will try out the seats properly whichever ones they come with. Glad I don’t have the choice to spec one from scratch!
Seems there are a few of us ready to take the plunge so keep us posted of your progress.

I've just bought an 812 with race seats - I was specifically looking to do so as I think they add to the sense of occasion and I like the aesthetic; for me it makes the car look and feel that much more special.

They are firm, but I fit them well (6'1" and around 80kg). The fact you don't get height adjustment on the passengers seat is an issue, but my wife is 5'11 so less so for us than others I suspect.

The driving position in the race seats is just about perfect for me and they certainly provide a sense of connection to the car and it just feels that bit more special each time you climb in.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to personal preference, intended use and anatomy, but for looks and 'specialness' the race seats have it in my opinion.

Thank you! I'm doing my best to do so!

The interior is the standard racing carbon seats with beige tradizione and nero.
