I have recently bought a 575. I have had a variety of other 'supercars' and still have a few. I also have a Maserati 4200 manual which clearly is more recent.

When I bought the 575 the f19'' front tyres were 10 years old and the rears 7. Both P7's of correct spec. The car seemed very tail happy in what i thought was quite light provocation. I changed all tyres to Pilot 4S's in the past couple of weeks. It was a complete transformation.

However, i was out today in dry weather with very cold roads and the traction control light flashed a few times in what i thought was a judicious application of power on good surfaces which were dry or at worst slightly damp.

I have no other experience with the 550/575 and very brief with a 599.

I have been driving for 46 years and driven a very large variety of cars and not really found anything quite like this. The 4200 does have its TC light flash from time to time as did a 360 in the past. Are the 575 TC lights very conservative or is this quite common on these cars?

Any input or views appreciated.

The previous owner fitted 25mm spacers to the back wheels. I understand that the wider track is meant to improve the car and traction?

It’s pretty common on damp roads. They are very forgiving despite the wall of torque and power they produce. The wheelbase is far longer than that of your Maserati so it’s pretty easy to catch any misdemeanours. Fabulous cars...

Nothing to worry about. I got caught once in absolutely torrential rain in mine and you just have to be very gentle with your throttle and steering inputs.

As above it will communicate very clearly what is about to happen, unlike modern cars that only flash the light at you before snapping you feel much more progressive communication.

Standard tyres lose their grip under 8 degrees C , combined with old TC kicking in a bit slowly.

I have an old Vanquish (same era to 575) and the traction control either cuts power early or allows lurid slides!!!
