612 fault code
Discussion
Now, I don't have a 612, but.my brother in law does. But I do have an OBD fault code reader and he doesn't.
Been having issues with it recently involving a well know specialist. An engine light has appeared (again) when it was supposed to be cured.
Question is, can I plug my simple reader in to read what fault is indicated.......or will Ibugger the whole thing up?
Oh, and where is the port?
It'll be nice if I can help him out before he goes back all guns blazing. He is, after all, a powerfully built international lawyer.

Given it could be as simple as him not fully tightening the fuel cap this latter might not be the best approachYour code reader could give a clue but I don't know the port location - possibly near the steering column with the fuses

There will be no problem reading it - but don't reset it if you're still liaising with the specialist.
This - whoever you get to look at it will thank you for not erasing any info. The OBD port is behind a panel by the drivers knee - you need to unscrew a couple of plastic screws before pulling it down. Thanks all, much appreciated.
I did read somewhere that Ferrari use a different connect it with 3 pi s. Perhaps that's on different models.
I have no intention of clearing the codes. We want the garage to see them but having a little pre knowledge is an advantage.
I shall let you know what transpires.

I used a cheap 6 quid OBD reader on my 612 to read and reset codes. When it first came up I took it to the dealer to get a more accurate diagnosis. They said that the o2 sensor was detecting a value on the edge of the tolerance, but still within normal parameters.
I recently used it on my 430. One of my sensors went bad as it was detecting both 2197 and 2198 codes (rich and lean fuel mixes). After I replaced my left front sensor I no longer saw the code.
I then installed high flow cats in the 430 and after some long drives through Europe started getting 420/430 codes indicating reduced cat efficiency on both banks. Just received some mini cat extenders (following voicey's website suggestion), so I'll install those and see if it helps.
Best 6 quid I ever spent.

As above you can generally use use a cheap OBD2 code reader for engine codes, but if you want to diagnose other systems like ABS or airbags you will need to use something a little more powerful like this NT510 for Ferrari
