I've recently bought a short plate (13"x 4.4") for my 550 front but now have the problem of trying to mount it. The original German plates were screwed directly onto the bumper, the holes for which will need filling and painting as they will now be exposed.

I'm looking for a mounting that I can fit to the bumper and put the plate on to, but with little success.

How do you guys mount the plate?

I use these for my 456 number plates.

They are pretty strong (haven't lost a plate yet!) although you might want to err on the side of safety in terms of how many you use. They can be remove easily with a bit of WD40 and a gentle heat with a hairdryer.

That won't help with the holes, but at least you won't need to drill any more.

The plate on my 550 was fitted that same way as yours. When I had the bumper painted due to stone chips I had the screw holes filled and bought the genuine Ferrari brackets. They do require drilling holes in the bumper.

Thanks for the suggestions

Jagman, would the Ferrari bracket you speak of be OK with the reduced plate width?

The brackets fit the contours of the bumper 9 inches apart. So any plate longer than 11 inches will be OK. I fitted my plate directly to the brackets but there is a backing plate available. I have one if you want one.

Thanks Jagman, I've been looking at the eurospares website and came across the brackets you mention. Funnily enough, I was thinking of mounting directly and skipping the back plate too.
