575 - Tubi end straight pipes (no box)
Discussion
Any thoughts on the following? They are Tubi end straight pipes, replaces the rear exhaust.
My HGTC obviously is already equipped with center straight pipes from factory and also has aftermarket rear exhaust (which are not loud enough to my taste)
Trying to get some of my Stradale notes back

Dear 911Thrasher.
I am trying to do some research on the six rhd HGTC's and any lhd cars I find in the process.
If you have some pictures of yours and any details you are happy to share I would love to hear from you.

Did you check Ferrarilife, there is a HGTC unofficial register, Word document, and lots of info on various HGTC cars including mine I am trying to do some research on the six rhd HGTC's and any lhd cars I find in the process.

It's one of our sales cars. I've fitted quite a few over the years with no complaint though. The centre box and cats all stay standard. When you first start the car from cold and it carries out it's warm up cycle they always sound a little louder until they go into "closed loop" but that only takes 30 seconds or so.

Music!!
If you want to "try before you buy" you can simulate 90% of the sound you get from the straight-through pipes by disconnecting your vacuum pipes on your original units. That way you can drive it about for a bit and gauge the difference for yourself. Both units have a vacuum operated valve, below is a pic of your original unit, showing the valve. Simply pull off the rubber tube and put a bolt/screw into the pipe. Do the same both sides...

If the objective here is to simply to 'improve'
the sound at start up (and at rpm <4,000) then playing with the valves on the OEM silencers would be worth a go. If the objective is to ditch the rear silencers and fit something like those un-silenced Tubi tips that 911Thrasher is talking about, then the valves are history. P.S. late model 575Ms already have straight pipes by default in the centre as opposed to a resonator or x-pipe.
I have yet to experiment myself but plan to play with the valves in the spring but have read that whereas the 599 valves fail open, the 550/575 the valves fail closed, so it's a bit more involved than simply disconnecting the vacuum line but still only 'a 10 min job'...
My notes wrt the 550/575 fail closed system cribbed from a post on FL or FC, I can't recall which..
Anyone that can jack their car up safely and turn a ratchet can do this. The only 10 mm screws you turn are on the rear bottom panel of the car to remove it (9 screws). No hoses to cut, you just reposition two on them...
It cost nothing but a few minutes, can be reversed in the same amount of time.
Once the rear lower cover is off, find the vacuum hoses running from your exhaust bypass valves at very rear (near tips) of mufflers (a.k.a. silencers).
Backtrack to vacuum "T", then backtrack again from the vacuum "T" with the single hose to solenoid, a very short distance.
Now that you have the solenoid identified, go back and remove this last single hose that you followed up to the solenoid but, remove it at the vacuum "T".
Leave this hose loose for now, go back to the solenoid, at the twelve o'clock position carefully remove the top vacuum hose, by twisting, wiggling and pulling as gently as possible upwards.
Once removed, take this hose (12o'clock hose) and connect it to the open vacuum "T" that the short hose had been connected too.
Then take the short vacuum hose that is still loose and reconnect it to twelve o'clock position on solenoid (creating a small loop). That's it. Doing this you have attached the accumulator hose from front of car to vacuum "T", directly activating the bypass valves to open upon start up. They now stay open with car running.
The other small hose has simply covered the open hole on solenoid to prevent dirt from getting in.
Not forgetting to replace the rear bottom panel (9 screws)

Those naughty Tubi straight through tips...

P.S. Thrasher, are you sure that you have seen these Tubi tips with double-walled / HGTC-style turbine/propella look? Can't seem to find any pictures on the net and the above image is purportedly of the part number that you quoted.
The late model 575M (& HGTC spec) has straight pipes from the factory..

The 550 Maranello and early 575Ms came with a centre silencer/X-pipe/resonator. This is the 550.

P.S. There's a great thread running on FerrariLife about a guy in Italy who is developing some new manifolds for the 550/575M that look very promising....

My 550 is decatted with Tubi centre pipes and sports back boxes. Also has Michelotto remap.
