It was a dry and almost sunny day here and we have had enough wet / warm weather to wash most of the salt off the roads, so I decided to take the 550 out for a quick spin, as it has not seen a road since it was serviced just over a month ago.

Started on the button no problem. I covered barely a dozen miles and didn't get above 120 as I was on the back roads (less salt), but it was enough to remind me what a wonderful machine I am fortunate enough to have in my garage: the massive reserves of power, seemingly endless torque, light yet pin-sharp steering, etc., etc., all add up to one of the most seductive packages on four wheels. I have only one complaint, and that is the lack of excitement in the engine noise department, at least from where the driver is sitting - too refined, I am afraid, hardly audible above the road noise. I drove a Maserati GTS the other day and the engine note is utterly intoxicating; 550 is bland by comparison. But other than that, sublime. smilesmilesmile

Just in case you have forgotten what a 550 looks like (!):

I'm sure they are solutions: open valves, straight pipes, sport cats...

Luck man, you only live once and you have actually purchased a Ferrari, that puts you in to a very special club that few people will ever experience,

I put a Tubi full system on - and then promptly took it off - as it was so boomy and loud on longer journeys. I settled with a the end cans and a cross pipe - which was less intrusive - but not a loud - and was a good compromise for me - allowing track day participation and no noise police issues!

A full Tubi system I found horrific. Gave me a headache after only a few minutes! I just have the tubi back boxes and find that a perfect compromise.

I'm running Larini back boxes. Just right for my ears. I wouldn't want anything more raucous, or I might as well get a Lambo.....!
