I just came across this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtDP9aHc_Js and it's got me thinking about changing my 512 exhaust, again.
The white car in the video sounds fantastic, so much better than standard.

Does anyone have any experiences in changing and is there anything to be avoided?

I don't want it screaming, just a more open, less suppressed exhaust note. I've also been warned some of these systems can be boomy at high cruising speeds, I use my car for a few long trips each year so that would be a disaster.

The last time I looked at doing this most of the advice I got was just not to do it based on others bad experiences. Seeing data sheets before/after dyno pulls showing hp losses was the final straw. It all seemed to add up to massive waste of cash but there must be some well engineered systems that save weight and let the engine breathe a bit easier?

Mine came with a Tubi fitted, which sounds like the right balance you may be looking for. Its not boomy at cruising speed, but has a nice volume level when pressing on.

I've never heard it outside the car though

I'd like to know what the white car in the video is running though

I had an X-Ost on my TR for a few years and its a lovely sound, works really well. The Tubi is slightly to boomy IMO. I currently have a straight through pipe Larini at the moment and its loud, seriously loud. In fact offensive. Henry Catchpole from Evo when he drove it and reviewed it, said "Quite honestly, it’s painful. I’ve heard some loud cars in my time, but no road car gets close to the physicality of an unsilenced Testarossa"

So with that in mind, it probably too loud. In fact my wife finds it too much now with that exhaust.

TR's do need a sports exhaust though smile
