575 miles / colour price sensitive ?
Discussion
So pretty sure I am going for a 575, want lhd as I plan to use it for touring over the next 2 years.
Can't help but thinking a 550 might appreciate more ? Has the 575 stopped depreciating ?
However I have a manual 355 anyway so that ticks the box
So have seen a couple of cars both similar price one grey, 27 k miles ( good to average condition) and the other black 36k miles ( looks stunning in black !! And great condition)
Heart says buy black one head says buy lower miles grey one easier to resell ?
Any views before I drive myself mental !!!

Are you buying for yourself or the next owner ?
Another query is if you buy into the FHP myth - if the black one has it then buy that unless the other car is much cheaper - is the other grigio or silver - the former is better
A quick look at Mobile.de shows that 575 colours are very varied and so the choice will always be there
In two years the market can change considerably so it could be that the car ends up going back to Europe so UK criteria won't necessarily apply

All very valid points, I am buying it as I want to tour round Europe a couple of times a year without loosing my shirt.
Its not a keeper for me I already have 3 that are !!!
So I guess unusually one eye is on the next owner, don't know the 575 market well enough hence the questions.
Don't buy into the FHP myth at all ( well at least not for what I am using it for) but I guess it would help resale.
Grigio one is not much cheaper but has less miles
Cant help liking black though !!!

Not had a coffee yet....what is the 'FHP myth'?
'Fiorano Handling Pack'! I had a coffee.....OK myth or no myth the market believes it and prices accordingly. Reviews at launch slammed the 575 for its hopeless lardy handling. The same reviewers raved about the car with FHP. Even if you don't believe the reviewers and are happy with softer handling, why make your life difficult come re-sale time?
LHD, Flappy Paddle, no FHP! Not an easy sale..real runt of the litter stuff. There are so many cars out there...wait for the right one IMHO.
Oh and drive a 575 with paddles to make sure you are OK with it.

Unless you are in Europe it seems !! or Old like me !!
Very accurate - as noted above its only the UK that seems to care about FHP - mainly internet warriors who don't own the car but believe the original UK reviews and refuse to understand about the upgraded suspension ECUs subsequently fitted - all this for a car that was never designed as a track car !If you're going to track the car, then FHP is a must. If you are going to use the car as it was intended i.e. GT then it's not essential. I've had three 550's, 2 without FHP and one with. To be quite honest the FHP on the 550 WSR suited the car, but long distance touring in Europe was tiring, due to the FHP and the Tubi, which made the inside quite a noisy place to be and the handling was quite sharp at the front end. But it was awesome around a track, where it was meant to be, with the roll cage really making the whole chassis much stiffer, allowing the FHP to do its stuff!
I used to drive from London to Belgium regularly (18,000 miles in 6 months) and the 550 without he FHP was the perfect car for travelling comfortably, whilst making "good progress". The Argento silver made the car near invisible with the standard exhaust, which also made kind distances really relaxing. The Tour de France blu was a really pretty car, with cream interior, but a real pain to keep the interior clean.
Either way, the 575 is a great car, and really suited to the GT thing.
Enjoy!

Agree, if you're going to use it primarily on Euro motorways and then one day sell it in Europe, not so runty!Re : LHD, Flappy Paddle, no FHP! Not an easy sale..real runt of the litter stuff. There are so many cars out there...wait for the right one IMHO

My 550 is LHD and I'm 53 so I know where you're coming from!

Isn't it the 575 that arguably needs the FHP, not the 550? I thought the FHP fitted to 575 brought it back into line with the standard 550? Would have thought that 550 was stiff enough anyway..must be pretty hard with a FHP..in fact didn't realise you could could get FHP on the 550.Edited by Anjum on Thursday 28th August 11:42
Well the search continues !!! And it would be great if I could ever find something that has actually be serviced .... Recently !!!!
Drove a few hundred km's to look at a good one, not perfect but useable ... With its full history serviced every year ... Well apart from the fact it hdnt been serviced for 4 years !!!
I know it's lax over here but called about c. 5 cars so far one with any decent history !!!
Blue looks lovely .. Just not my cup of tea !!! Want black or grey but I suspect I am going to end up with red as I may have found a half decent one in red oh and it's a 550 ...
But apart from that it's exactly what I am looking for !!!!!!

What's the pinnacle ?
A 550 rhd in red / creme ?
Or 575, fiorano ? In red or black ?

Pinnacle is RHD 575 manual in TDF blue and tan leather! What's the pinnacle ?

I think market prefers red, black and blue with light coloured leather.
I think all 3 are equal in terms of ease of re-sale over next few years. Longer term I would want my money in a manual car. Look at prices of manual 575, 355, 456 versus paddle/auto
For long distance cruising the manuals are pretty much auto's anyway as they have soo much torque!
