550 Barchetta at RM Auction- Was this cheap ?
Discussion
Just looking through the RM Auction results and saw this 5,000 mils 550 Barchetta which sold for £145k

Admittedly it's LHD but a 5,000 mile 550 would be surely close to £100k now ? Doesn't seem like much of a premium for a Barchetta ?
Even before the current madness a 5,000 mile standard 550 would have been £70k plus. Just seems to me like decent "value" in the current market.

Lovely cars, but you need to keep the roof down!http://rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1066955

Good God!
Yes, it's a bit hideous isn't it?! But. It's an emergency thing, not for routine use. I understand it now, though I didn't until I bought the F50, which I keep in open configuration. The fabric roof isn't good for much more than 50mph and you only use it when you're caught out in the rain and when it's parked outside overnight.456mgt said:

Ahh, I see. Aside from that hood the car is very nicely proportioned everywhere else.toohuge said:
It seems about the right price given the bubble we're in at the moment.
I don think that 550's should be 100k cars, it's unrealistic IMO and not sustainable.

I agree re 550 prices, but the Barchetta always was a limited edition convertible version. Which is why this particular car seems conspicuously good value compared to its less illustrious brethren.I don think that 550's should be 100k cars, it's unrealistic IMO and not sustainable.

Silverstone Auctions have got this RHD coming up for sale soon at estimated £210k to £250k.

I think they're great looking cars and if you're in the market for something special I think you could do a lot worse that to have bought that LHD car.....it's hardly a daily driver so being LHD wouldn't be that much of an issue. That Silverstone car looks great in that colour combo!
I'd agree that 550's aren't £100k cars but with these cars being manual I think over time 550/575's will be worth as much or even more than a 599. I love the 599 (saw a stunning black one as I left the office yesterday!) but I just think the F1 box will date badly....very badly. One of the first things you hear reviewers say about the 612 is how much better the gearbox is. In ten tears time with another couple of generations of these gearboxes what's in the 599 will feel very agricultural. I'd also guess that the more modern cars will be much more expensive to maintain because of the complexity.
