Like the GT4, these have grown into their looks over the last 10yrs IMO.

Old man had one of these for a few years and I loved it.

Couple more photo's that my mate emailed me that do the car much more justice, plus one of the 4.3 V12 lurking under the bonnet.

Very nice - 400i Series 2 auto...looks smart.
A fine classic V12!

The 365/400/412 model thread over Ferrarichat is a good place to get owners advice if your mate needs any.
Also strongly recommend the Ferrari 400 Club
F400club.com

I've had no appreciation for these until now, but I think this is uber-cool.]

Understated, elegant, V12!!! What's not to like?

My mate Ben says thank you.

He is not yet signed up to PH so cannot post.

A pleasure -

Happy to put Ben in touch with other 400/412 owners if he wants to.

Question for mate of original poster: was the 412 considered as well, and if so what factors swung it in favour of the 400?

I love these, like you say, mega cool just because they're so understated. I'd have one in that metallic brown/beige colour to use as a daily drive smile

Really like the 400i , just seems right with a V12 and auto box to cruise round in. How fragile are they to be used regularly ?

I will ask Ben, although I think it was more of a situation thing rather than hunting for a specific car.

Always liked them. Got close to pulling the pin on a 412 some years ago. Only issue is that they are a typical Ferrari...fking expensive to fix when they (inevitably) go wrong. And at the time their value didn't outweigh the potential maintenance cost.

I was thinking just the same thing recently.
