went for £49,450 - could the 456GT's be rising in value too ?
or is this because it was originally supplied to the Sultan of Brunei car with a "special km only' speedo for a UK RHD market car ?
think it was actually built in 1994 btw, looking at the chassis number

Hard to say, the fact that it had only done 13,000 miles probably helped but on the other hand it did need a bit spending on it ie there was filler in the drivers door and the HVAC panel needed replacing etc.,.
If I remember correctly it was sold to a bidder in Singapore where the fact that it is a RHD car with speedometer in kmh might have made it especially attractive and hence inflated the price.

You're probably right in all the above affecting the price, but the winning bidder must have been bidding against someone else who also wanted the car badly. :-)If I remember correctly it was sold to a bidder in Singapore where the fact that it is a RHD car with speedometer in kmh might have made it especially attractive and hence inflated the price.
just my thoughts then..
HVAC panel replacement is about £60 for a new cover from Euroepares (very easy to sort out)
door - few hundred quid to sort at a a decent body shop (doors are steel I think, rather than ally)
speedo replacement - suspect that's nearer £1k for the part.
What would worry me is the low mileage for a 20 year old car - a lot of the rubber would be perished due to lack of use - thinks like fuel lines, suspension.

Also, having done some business with the Sultan's brother in law, I'm not convinced that the car would have been looked after properly in Brunei. A lot of the cars that go over there are stored in a warehouse, not used, and then sold on to locals who pay a premium and have no access to specialist servicing.HVAC panel replacement is about £60 for a new cover from Euroepares (very easy to sort out)

Not saying that's definitely the case with this car, but could be.
maybe price wasn't that crazy after all..

seems the good ones even with 40k miles+ are going up in value
btw 40k miles for a 18 year old is still just over 2k miles/year
