Can someone explain this to me please? Why has this 355 just sold for £177’500?

It’s LHD, being in an accident and service history is patchy. What am I missing?

Cars like this fetch much more over in USA. So LHD is prime for someone to import into USA. Also I believe the import rules are much more llenient or simpler when the car is over 20 years old or something like that. So old, rare, desirable and LHD feels like USA market to Me.

It was originally supplied to the US when it was new

Re-importing it will therefore be much more straightforward

Prices are higher there, hence selling well here

I saw a YouTube about a 599 yesterday

Apparently prices have just gone from 90ish to 150ish in 4 weeks

Crazy

Here's some recent sales from BaT:

Prices all over the place, but seemingly gradually on the rise.
