I maintain the FFSH on my 458 (and in fact, also the warranty)

Anyone else ? Curious to know how many people here are doing the same.

Seems like this is now becoming a differential in resale.

It’s a no brainer. If you go to a specialist, you save a few hundred pounds but you reduce the pool of interested buyers significantly when it comes to resale.

Whether the warranty is worth it (4k p.a.) from a resale perspective is questionable… but one big problem with the car might well justify the outlay.

In which direction?
FFSH has always commanded a premium but I suspect our California is better maintained at AV Engineering.

Intend to maintain the FFSH on mine and likely the warranty for as long as I can on a 2014 car (to 2030?).

How do you play it for an almost unused car? Still annual or bi-annual?

That really is my question. I pay every year for the Ferrari service like clockwork. And the MOT.

The question on this post is - who else is doing this ?

By biannual, do you mean in installments, or a biennial/ two year warranty? I thought an annual warranty in a single upfront payment was the only option but would purchase upfront a longer warranty period if available?

I actually did similar miles in the 458 last year as I did in my daily, gone from doing 25-30k miles p/a in a daily to around 3k. The daily is also due another manufacturers/used warranty extension around the time of the 458's and will likely take the longer 3yr option that is available for that and hang onto it for a few more years.

Ahh, understand the question better now others have replied whilst I was typing...
Service and MoT with main dealer every year, and warranty too (which wouldn't be available without their service).

Purchased my 17 488 two years ago with FFSH but have used a trusted indy from day one. WRT a warranty, I read the T&C's for the Power 15 and concluded that it actually covers very little so have not gone with one at all.

Agreed with independant and recently broke my FFSH to go indie. Seeing them do the work and looking around the car was far better than sipping coffee in a fancy waiting room.

Lots of additional preventative items done to keep the car way fresher than it would have been at the main dealer. Also a few bits picked up that the main dealer didn't.

Would have loved to keep FFSH, but you are paying more for far less and I have seen this across all brands. A passionate and knowledgeable indie will leave you with a better car if you intend to keep it for the long run.

I use a specialist and no warranty. The guys give the car way more attention than Ferrari ever would,

I don’t believe it affects resale at all, I think most people realise that a good specialist is worth its weight in gold, I’d much rather see a specialist history and would value it higher than main dealer.

I’ve also never bought from a main dealer, DK engineering, Premier GT and Nick Cartwright. Cars had stamps from DK and Nick Cartwright in the book. No one is going to say a DK stamp is poo hehe

My 458 was a one owner FFS history and I took it to a specialist for servicing and unsurprisingly the specialist I sold it to didn’t care and neither did the guy who bought it off them.

Lucky bugger is laughing at its value now, I almost kept it and should have.

I think a newer Ferrari probably has better value with a FFSH whereas an older one has better value where it’s maintained by a specialist.

Mine falls into the latter category and is looked after by AV Engineering who know more about the model I have than anyone else.

I would pay for the service every year - no gaps. The cost of the service is tiny compared to the value of the car.

After a dreadful experience with a main dealer, I moved to indies - and I went through a couple of so-so experiences with them until I found one I rate. But now I do most of the spannering myself. I enjoy it, can take my time over it and do things that pros generally don't, like deep cleaning when things are apart, or renewing fasteners. And I have the knowledge that it has all been done properly.

In Germany people seem to service the car by mileage not years - as an example a Ferrari dealer might quote full service history, but when you drill down, they will say "no, not every year as the car has hardly been driven during the last 3 years, so no service was needed. We will service it prior to delivery" or something similar.

and just to add to that, I think here it makes very little / no difference to sellability / attractiveness of the car

Well the purpose of this thread is to find out who is still keeping a full FSH. Not debate the merits or otherwise.

But … cars with FFSH are already selling for a premium.

Surely the main issue is if, as you say cars with FFSH are selling for a premium, does that additional amount outweigh the extra cost of maintaining a FFSH viz a viz an indy one.
