I know this is a situation I should be grateful to be in but the decision is killing me.

I am worried about residuals on the Roma Spyder, with many saying the prices are falling out of the Roma very quickly - with already 12 Spyders for sale on Autotrader. Mrs Nick loves it, after a couple of long drives and thinks it's perfect.

However from a financial point of view, and looks to (I have to be honest) I prefer the Huracan Evo Spyder V10 - we all know it has an amazing engine/sound, and the looks to go with it - but with a 4 year old car with 20,000 miles costing £180,000 vs a 24 plate Roma costing £240,000 - it's hard to see which way to go.

Of course the warranty and service packs go to help a long way and that adds perhaps £20k into the pot - but any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Surely it depends on what you’re going to mainly use the car for. If it’s a back roads toy then surely the Lambo. If it’s lots of European touring it must be the Roma.

Well it will be used in Europe once a year for a run out, maybe France/Italy for a week but thats it.

I made the mistake using my Aston Martin for 20,000 miles in 7 months, and def not going to make that mistake again as I had an accident and wrote the car off and my insurers underpaid me by £50,000 as I had not advised them of my excessive mileage (wasn't trying to deceive anyone, just loved my car so much). So this time round, 6000/8000 miles a year maximum and not a daily driver, just weekends maybe

V8 turbo and haptic nonsense, or V10 with switchgear.

Lambo every time for me.
Looks far more dramatic too, if dramatic looks appeal.
The Roma, whilst a return to classy styling for Ferrari, is a smidge too discrete on the outside for me.

Two very different types of car and driving experience.

Saying that you prefer the look of the Huracan suggests that's where your heart is. If you were to purchase a Roma you would most likely regret it every time you saw a Huracan.

There is no right or wrong here but it seems financial aspects are important - hence the Lambo, it costs less, is secondhand so has taken depreciation and has some chance of being seen as a halo model.

Consider a secondhand Roma?

In other respects I wouldn't have had these two as direct alternatives. I'd have the Lambo. I like the Roma and the Spider is better to drive than the coupe apparently (I've only driven the coupe) as the extra weight at the rear seems to steady it a bit. But n/a V10 wins here. Well it would for me. For reasons too boring to go into a V10 doesn't work for me where I live so I chose a 296GTS.

Agree with others. Its like saying Volvo Estate or Jaguar E-type. They are such different cars with different briefs. In the Roma I could tour Europe with my wife, if the Lambo I would be looking at a divorce after the first 200 miles.

My lottery win garage contains both.

Lambo (preferably green) for hooning and posing, Roma for civilised grand tours.

surely the natural alternative to a huracan is a mid engine ferrari ?

the huracan's boot is not great for a week's tour, but the event is in another league

Bizarre comparison, beyond different types of car, only thing in common are they are convertibles!

Prepare to lose £100k in 2 years on the Roma Spider if the financial is more important to how the cars drive. All New Ferraris are priced wrong from the start and unless Limited get absolutely smacked on the used market.

One word, luggage!

100l (from memory) stopped me on the evo, I have the same in the Aventador and it’s very limiting

Think I’d go portofino m rather than Roma if it needed to be a Ferrari

I wouldn't piss on a Roma on my way to the Lamborghini.

A Huracan is still a thug compared to a mid engine Ferrari. Both are fabulous

Huracan all day …the two wheel drive version has more space in the front boot as no need for driveshafts btw.

You sure about that? I thought they were the same? Its a BIW change to liberate the extra space.

We are looking at the AWD version V10 Evo, with very little front space. The coupe has a little space behind the seats but the Spyder doesn’t have any.

Only major issue is that the Ferrari has 7 year service plan and 3 years warranty - probably saving us £20k over a Lamborghini?

would a Portofino be an option for you? It will reduce the depreciation aspect and still gets you a modern(is) Ferrari convertible for touring.

Hmm I thought the rwd R8 benefitted from this so assumed the Huracan did too but of course could be mistaken.
