Ferrari Challenge - Silverstone this weekend
Discussion
Note that this isn't Racing Days with the XX programme and F1 Clienti. I went to the Brands Hatch round in April and there was just too little going on. Normally UK race meetings have multiple races with just a short gap from one to the next. This is only the UK Challenge with long gaps between sessions with only the occasional stint for Ferrari customers in between. If you're driving on track that's a different matter but otherwise I suggest checking the timetable on the Silverstone website (as well as weather forecast!) before deciding to attend.
Ferraris are parked in the paddock just behind the Wing pit building. Entry is free for Ferrari Owners' Club members via the FOC website (or if your dealer likes you enough). If you arrive in a Ferrari you may get waved in without them checking your ticket or you may not.

timetable
I went last year with my son and his friend.
I took the liberty of asking an owner who was waiting for the parade if he could squeeze them in. He happily squeezed us all in. Great to see owners of wonderful cars sharing them like that.
Anyway, a few days ago, I picked up a copy of the magazine of the Ferrari Owners club and there was a photo of my son!
Anyone fancy giving him a ride this year?

Went to one of these at Silverstone a few years back. I wouldn’t bother again unless it happened to be at a local track.
Even as a freebie it was poor, I think if we’d paid it was only £20. Way too much waiting around, the 488 challenge cars sounded like hair dryers and the F1 cars never came out.
Monstrously long gaps of hours between things happening.
Having said all that the FXX cars were brilliant, proper noisy and the “parade” lap was fun.
Just not worth the 5 hour round trip. Although it’s never dull driving your Ferrari, unless it’s on the M1.

I went last year and thought it was great. Got to take my Pista around the track for a 20 minute “track session” in the morning and then it was all about the old F1 cars, the FXX cars and ultimately the 488 challenge series. Plus we had the parade lap. The F1 race was on upstairs which was a great atmosphere and there were plenty of cars to look at in and around the pits.
I remember doing a "parade lap" at some point - briefing said max 80 kph or sth like that. My brother was driving and when I checked we were doing nearly 200 and other cars pulling away - was quite an experience at the next corner with many many flashing rear lights and everybody very hard on the brakes. I think it was also 2 laps, not 1 as originally indicated.
Ferrari events are usually good fun. they know how to organise stuff for their clients.
and seeing many Ferraris together is always worth it imo. I did a few of the Ferrari track events, but those were relatively bad value for money imo if you mostly care about driving time and not lunch etc.
