Thoughts on having PPI if buying within the network
Discussion
Just ask them. If you’re looking at an F40 or Enzo etc they’ll likely say “feel free, whoever you want”… for a regular road car they’ll probably say they don’t have the capacity to take it places, and aren’t allowed to bring people in the workshop.
And don’t forget, peoples opinions on piston heads will mean fark all to a dealership

Thank you for those insights. Putting it that way I can see where your coming from. And don’t forget, peoples opinions on piston heads will mean fark all to a dealership
A main dealer provides you with a lot of come back should the need arise.
They also have to run all sort of checks and provide data to Ferrari for the warranty.
Ask for the health check report too.
Personally im comfortable buying (and have bought several times) from a dealer without an indeendant HPI on the car.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on whether it's worth having an independant PPI done if buying an Approved used Ferrari from a main dealer.
Having been done up like a kipper on my Gallardo i bought my F430 from Maranello's with a 2 year warranty so didn't think it necessary to have a PPI done as the warranty is covered by Ferrari themselves not Maranello's
but before they issue it a point by point inspection has to be done.
However i did do a HPI check which showed up a mileage discrepancy ,
However Maranello's sorted the problem out quickly with HPI and they amended their error
as i held off payment until it was done.
Also many dealers have their stock on a finance plan using individual cars which they should clear when the car is sold
so you hope, not saying Maranello's do this but some of the smaller dealers do ,common practice i've been told .
Ahh, so you're buying a 7 year old sports car, irrespective of where from. A car with known weaknesses that can be assessed subjectively.
Choices are to get it inspected prior to purchase, or take it somewhere immediately after and get it checked and then see what your chances are at getting it rectified.
Personally I'd be going for the first option.

Sorry, poor articulation on my part.Choices are to get it inspected prior to purchase, or take it somewhere immediately after and get it checked and then see what your chances are at getting it rectified.

The car I'm looking at is at Marenello and is in the process of having their pre warranty inspection done. Once any work requiring rectification is completed they then put the Ferrari approved 2 year warranty on it.

Do you walk into the showroom and see a car that is ready for sale?
Has this car already had its pre warranty inspection?
Or is the car sat in the showroom retail ready but it then needs its pre warranty inspection?

Varies on how long been in stock, but a few I’ve bought only went through once I’d deposited. Also depends on if on SOR; the official dealers still run this arrangement.Do you walk into the showroom and see a car that is ready for sale?
