458 Apple CarPlay retrofit

I’d be grateful if someone can either point me to a previous chat or share any info and experiences they may have with retrofitting apple car play to a 458. Many thanks.

I can't help with an actual retrofit (sounds like a big job as it would involve new screen(s) with all that entails or else some kind of not aesthtically pleasing new infotainment placement) but for a cheap alternative you can get a Bovee device to plug into the iPod adapter and stick your iPhone on a rigid stalk holder in the cupholder. It works fine for me. I appreciate that isn't what you asked but I wouldn't personally do or pay for all the work involved in getting CarPlay into a car like the 458 which isn't that much of a cruising Podcast listening type car.

Only works if you have the iPod connection.

I’m not sure it can always be retrofitted either.

I just use a cheap fm transmitter that sits in the cup holder out of sight. Mostly works just fine.
