Thoughts on legal privacy glass
Discussion
Afternoon gentlemen
I value my privacy and have had fully legal privacy glass (75% light shines though which meets the legal requirement) to the front windows of my Ferrari 458.
Obviously attention is part and parcel of a Ferrari, but mitigating this was something I wanted to do. I feel much more comfortable driving the vehicle with this small adaptation.
Anyhow, when it comes to this matter and the potential sale of said vehicle, would it be best to remove the tinting before taking photos and putting for sale?
I am regrettably considering selling the vehicle this summer due me and my partner building our own house and not being able to justify the fair chunk of cash that is tied up.
I plan on driving the car until the sale (I only drive a few thousand miles per year), but I don’t want to put any potential buyers off. I know how heavily these things can be frowned upon. Truth be told though, I would not feel comfortable driving the car with no privacy glass, so it’s a funny one.
Even with a full 8 year Ferrari service and everything absolutely above board, I want to proceed with caution and ensure I go about things the right way when it comes to any potential sale. It wouldn’t be the end of the world removing the glass and just not adding more miles, but I would like to end things until the end.
I wanted to ask the community on this forum their thoughts and I value any reply.
Thank you.

My 458 had after market tints applied and my dealer removed them before delivery. My car was then left with squeeky irritating windows that smudged and it took them over 8 attempts to finally repair it after replacing multiple trims! It's a real headache removing them as will leave issues as per my experience.
Respectfully, Ferrari probably messed the removal up. The fact they sold you a 458 with squeaky windows speaks volumes. No surprise though.
I’ve had 7/8 cars since 2016, all with privacy glass, which were all removed by professional window specialists before sale or return/ trade in. Not once have I had any issues.
Knowing Ferrari, they took them off inappropriately.
I’ve had constant issues with my 458 that back up the claim that the Ferrari dealers are mostly absolutely useless.
I really wish Ferrari took control over their brand and got rid of the middle men dealers that operate in the uk.

If they're legal, leave the tints on. You never know, the next owner might appreciate the privacy too!
Nobody is going to be put off by an aftermarket tint and if they're that anal, you're probably better off not selling to them as they'll be out with the paint thickness gauge before you can blink...

Just a word of caution on this.
If you fitted 75% VLT tints, to the front windows, this will be illegal. The front windows on the vast majority of cars are tinted to 75% VLT from factory. They are at the legal limit as standard. Apply any film over the top, even if it is the lightest tint available at 90% VLT, and your windows will be illegal.
If you fitted an insanely light tint, then had the windows tested afterwards and the meter said 75%VLT, then thats fine, but 99.9% of people don't do this.
