Went on a trip the other day, looked at the car during a petrol fill up and the front number plate was missing. I'd lost it, "somewhere", I think I even remember a noise I made when I drove over it. It was one of those easy detach ones at the front. Looked for a replacement to find they are £300.00 in some places £350.00 ..... you got to be kidding.

So I went about a different number plate altogether ......

I found this to be a superb starting point.

So I measured everything. Ferrari being Ferrari use an unusual threat pattern

I had to make sure that the plate that goes on it, needed to be detached because the bolt was difficult to do up and the clearance space was tiny.

So we made this

Then I could put the main bolt in, then attach the stainless steel plate with a sunken Hex Screw

I used 2 lengths of double sided foam tape to make sure the number plate didn't come off.

I had to place the number plate, so that the top of the number plate was at the top of the Stainless Steel Plate, otherwise it would touch the body work, as it was, there was only a few mm's space.

Car went from lose number plate in low position to super strong in higher position.

I like it, and I don't think I'll lose it.

I like that too. A really cool little customisation that no one else is going to have, and looks pretty slick at the same time!

My Carbonio is somewhere on the M42, it’s why I’m using this system, but thank you

I’ve used the carbonio mounts on a 488, F8, 812 and soon a 296. They are excellent and there’s no way one will detach if the mount is fitted correctly.

Surely UK supplied 488's were all supplied with a front registration plate mount (part No. 86298400) as standard, as all UK/European market cars require a front plate to be fitted? :confused

If so, where do all plate mounts disappear to? scratchchin

In stock here: https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/252847/ferra... and only £73.04 + VAT.

Na….. nobody has these from new as involves putting screws in the bumper and the dealers recommend against…..

Surely there must be more to this story? Can they tow the car because of no front number plate?

In the story you linked it says the Mclaren was not insured.

I bought one of these the other day - seems decent enough at the moment, and no damage to the bumper either

I have an excellent condition used one of these for sale. I imported it directly from the manufacturer in Canada a couple of years ago.

I have to agree. Awful and ruins the front of a lovely car and makes it look lop sided.

What's wrong with velcro ? At least you can mount it centrally.

I have a 488 carbonio mount which I no longer need as I’ve sold the car. They work very well, you just stick the plate to it with sticky pads. Something like £250 new, £100 and it’s yours incl UK delivery.

Sorry, but that looks really bad. Also as mentioned by blueg33 because you've mounted it perpendicularly to the ground the offset makes it look like it's skew-whiff.

Use velcro/sticky pads or one of the proper plate holders mentioned in my opinion. Offset plates rarely look good, only kit cars tend to pull it off because they're already unconventional.

Thank God I thought it was just me, I didn’t have any problem fixing my plate to the two ‘struts’
